AnAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsfan has discovered an adorable detail regarding Pascal if players follow him for an extended duration. Pascal was introduced with theAnimal Crossingfranchise inWild Worldwhere he would randomly visit towns and reward players with ship-themed furniture, butAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsfeatures the character differently.
Although he wasn’t an originalAnimal CrossingNPClike Tom Nook or Kapp’n, franchise fans have taken to Pascal as the playful otter that will occasionally show up in their bodies of water. With theAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsisland surrounded by water, it felt fitting for many long-time fans when he was added to the Nintendo Switch game with the free Summer update. As one of the fan-favorite characters ofAnimal Crossing: Wild World, Pascal fans could collect a picture of him just as they could with Tom Nook, K.K. Slider, Pelly, Phyllis, Katie, and Kaitlin, but oneNew Horizonsfan has picked up on a unique detail in the latest installment.

Reddit user Carolmanbat recently shared anAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsclip in which they follow Pascal to the boundary line for their island. As they tread water along the net surrounding theirAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsisland, Carolmanbat tails the backstroking red otter in the western portion of the ocean before getting to the northern corner which is where Pascal stops swimming and starts wrestling with a scallop. Similar to real-world otters, Pascal takes a scallop and begins smacking it on his stomach repeatedly before ingesting the ocean creature, with eyes reflecting his joy as they do with a villager that eats fruit.
Animal Crossing: New Horizonsplayers will normally run into Pascal when they buy a wetsuit from Nook’s Cranny for 3,000 bells and go for a swim in the water surrounding their islands. Upon diving for scallops in the ocean, Pascal will surface alongside the mainAnimal Crossing: New Horizonscharacterin order to ask them for the scallop as he does inAnimal Crossing: New Leaf. While he offered ship-themed items in New Leaf, theAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsversion of Pascal will give players Mermaid DIY projects, continuing his tradition of handing out unique furniture in exchange for his favorite food.
Given that Pascal has such an affinity for the scallops, it’s fitting that theAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsotter has an animation in which he eats the seafood that he’s been so enthusiastic about over the years. BecauseAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsplayers have to follow Pascal to the far reaches of their islands in order to see him actually ingest the scallop, Carolmanbat may be among a small portion oftheAnimal Crossingcommunityto catch the otter in this animation.
Animal Crossing: New Horizonsis available now for Nintendo Switch.
