There’s always a chance for irritation whenever a highly sought after product is only available through one specific retailer, and that’s exactly the case withAnimal Crossing: New Horizons' Sanrio amiibo cards. For those who may not know,Animal Crossing: New HorizonsSanrio collaborationpacks can only be purchased at Target. This is something Nintendo has done many times in the past and has almost always resulted in a lot of bitter fans who weren’t able to snag their purchase before the product was sold out. While many fans most likely suspected this would be the case, it still doesn’t make the pill any easier to swallow.

Sadly, many fans are also coming to the realization that consumers can just walk into Targets in-person, instead of going solely through online purchasing. While it’s unclear whether or not these Sanrio amiibo cards will be limited release items, it is abundantly clear that many Targets only received a limited supply of the cards. That, compounded with the fact that the amiibo cards are the only way togetHello Kittyitems inNew Horizons, means that many fans are not going to have the chance to get these items in their games. At least, through legitimate methods.

SomeAnimal Crossingfan outlets are recommending that players who could not place an order for these Sanrio cards purchase third-party made cards and tokens that allow players to get Sanrio items and villagers in their games. TheAnimal Crossingcommunity at large is known for using external methods to provide services for the game that Nintendo itself hasn’t provided. For example,New Horizonsplayers created a turnip black marketusing external websites like Reddit, with some fans even creating dedicated websites for checking turnip prices. While not exactly one-to-one, theAnimal Crossingcommunity usually finds ways to navigate the limitations Nintendo places on them.

All in all, the entire situation is a bit of a shame, as fans really don’t have many options to legitimately purchase these Sanrio amiibo cards. Many of the exclusiveAnimal Crossingvillagers are fan favoritesfollowing their inclusion inNew Leaf, and many players won’t even have the chance to get them on their island. For now, there’s still no official word on whether or not these cards will be restocked in the future. Fans who weren’t able to purchase them this time around should keep their eyes peeled for any news regarding restocks.
