Still, some weapons do have an easier learning curve that could pave the way for more complicated plays. Newcomers paying attention to the correct weapons will not only give themselves an easier time learning the game but will see themselves winning more often.
10R-99: SMG, Light Rounds
The R-99 is a behemoth for players who get their speed game right. It is an SMG (Light Rounds) that has a middling 17/11/9 (Head/Body/Legs) damage but boasts a whopping 198 Body DPS. Still, it can be a bit of a beast to maneuver.
As seen with its 198 Body DPS, the R-99has the highest fire rateof all weapons in the game courtesy of its Auto Fire Mode. Its huge DPS is also courtesy of its fast ADS movement, perfect for early-game skirmishes. However, its low damage-per-shot won’t work in the endgame, so players better replace the R-99 by then.
9L-STAR EMG: LMG, Energy Ammo
Unlike other LMGs, the L-STAR takes Energy Ammo directly from the inventory and overheats after 22 consecutive shots. It can only accommodate Optics and Standard Stocks, meaning it has high recoil alongside slow projectile speed. Even its muzzle flash and projectile effects can make it tricky to chase targets.
However, the L-STAR can make a very versatile LMG. Its ADS speed equals that of an AR, making it reliable for firefights. Additionally, it has low projectile drop, high DPS, and a 2X Headshot Multiplier. Moreover, its overheat mechanic gives its Auto Fire Mode a hidden Burst Mode that never require reloads (as long as there’s ammo), it can break doors when hitting handles, and its projectiles can distract targets
8Charge Rifle: Sniper, Sniper Ammo
InApex Legends, the Charge Rifle is a Sniper Rifle (Sniper Ammo) that has 56/45/45 damage, with 23 Body DPS. Interestingly, it’s the only hitscan weapon in the game, meaning it shoots its target instantly and escalates in damage throughout the shot.
The Charge Rifle has immense potential to be an all-around weapon. It doesn’t reduce damage when hitting legs, and it has 100-percent accuracy in air (making it work with Balloons, Ziplines, and Jump Pads). Lastly, as a long-range hitscan weapon, the Charge Rifle won’t need compensation for target movement, travel time, and bullet drop - allowing it to work as an OP shotgun up close or become a sniper from afar.
7M600 Spitfire: LMG, Heavy Rounds
Sadly, players might not immediately appreciate the Spitfire due to its speed - it’s on the slower end when firing, during ADS, and even when walking. It needs a decent Optic to move out of its rather clunky iron sights, and its unpredictable recoil makes it unideal for extremely clutch firefights.

However, the Spitfire does reward those who make the effort to master it. It boasts high DPS, a 2X Headshot Multiplier, and low recoil - meaning it’sextremely efficient for long-distance fighting. Additionally, the Spitfire’s sheer magazine size gives it the highest damage per magazine across LMGs, and the highest out of all weapons with an Extended Heavy Mag (Lv3).
6Devotion: LMG, Energy Ammo
InApex Legends, the Devotion LMG (Energy Ammo) boasts a powerful 32/16/12 damage with up to 240 Body DPS. However, its massive firepower comes with a few technical hiccups that can help players improve weapon mastery.
Unlike other LMGs, the Devotion boosts its Auto Fire Rate while being fired - dealing more damage to foes. However, things such as high recoil, slow reload, and slower ramp-up rate can make it tricky to use.
Thing, the Devotion does boast high magazine cap and a 2X Headshot Multiplier, making it a monsteragainst rushing enemies. Players who can load up the Devotion in time will have a mean machine in intense firefights.
5V-47 Flatline: AR, Heavy Rounds
The V-47 Flatline fromTitanfall 2appears inApex Legendsas one of the more reliable Assault Rifles (Heavy Rounds) for players. Its decent 38/19/14 damage with 190 Body DPS is higher compared to the more maneuverable R-301, and demands a bit more control with its recoil.
The Flatline has decent hipfire accuracy and can perform well in mid-range incursions. It also boasts a 2X Headshot Multiplier and high DPS. With an abundance of otherwise uncommon Heavy Rounds, the Flatline is definitely a decent option.
4Volt: SMG, Energy Ammo
In the game, the Volt is an SMG (Energy Ammo) that boasts 23/15/12 damage with 180 Body DPS. Despite its tricky hipfire and low ammo cap, the Volt is perhaps the easiest SMG to handle in the game.

The Volt SMG has a constant Auto Fire Mode, decent recoil, and low projectile drop thatfavors short-to-mid-range incursions. Unfortunately, players should avoid using the Volt SMG for long-range battles, as it only gets a 1X Headshot Multiplier to targets when going beyond 37.5 meters.
3HAVOC Rifle: AR, Energy Ammo
At first glance, the HAVOC can be off-putting given the need for a spin-up before firing. While the Turbocharger Hop-Up can remove this, the HAVOC performs well in its base form. Newcomers who manage to control its recoil and slow reload speed will be rewarded with high DPS and a decent 2X Headshot Multiplier.
Moreover, the HAVOC doesn’t just have the highest mag capacity across ARs, but it has the fastest bullet travel speed as well. Carrying a HAVOC is akin to carrying a small LMG.
2EVA-8 Auto: Shotgun, Shotgun Shells
In the game, the EVA-8 is a pump-action Shotgun on permanent Auto Fire Mode. Its 11/7/6 damage and 132 Body DPS seem minuscule, but the EVA-8 compensates with its innate potential. Granted, the rarer Mastiff boasts higher firepower, but the more common EVA-8’s easier handling makes it the more reliable short-range choice.
The EVA-8 heavily relies on the right Shotgun Bolt and Optics to maximize its performance, which in itself isa good way to introduce newcomers to attachments. Additionally, the EVA-8 has a fast fire rate paired with decent recoil - perfect for short-range firing at moving enemies. Its small 10-percent ADS movement penalty makes the EVA-8 great for dodging attacks while aiming, but it also remains reliable when hip-firing.
1R-301 Carbine: AR, Light Rounds
In the game, the R-301 is an Assault Rifle (Light Rounds) that compensates for its low damage with stellar maneuverability. Additionally, it has Single and Auto Fire modes that deal 28/14/11 damage. Its 2X headshot multiplier rewards great aimers, and 182 Body DPS is decent for a starting Primary Weapon.
Newcomers might stay away from the R-301 for its low base damage and mag capacity but this is a mistake. The R-301 remains one of the easiest guns to control in the game. It has decent performance across all range types, andremarkable handling can make panic hip-firingwith the R-301 a lifesaver.
