Previously, the only way to get a PS5or Xbox Series X was through sheer internet luck. Tomorrow, people can try their physical luck, as Best Buy is confirmed to be selling a limited number ofPS5and Xbox Series X consoles in-store.

Earlier this week, reports suggested that an in-storePS5 and Xbox Series X restock at Best Buywould be tomorrow, Thursday, September 22. The leaks were of Best Buy inventory screens showing the massive quantities of consoles that would become available to sell along with the date of the restock. Between the pandemic, scalpers, and the ongoing chip shortage, PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles have been in very limited supply, with potential buyers just hoping they can beat the bots online when the restocks happen. With this restock, there are no bots to beat, just many other people all hoping to be first in line.

Best Buy has updated its website confirming tomorrow’s in-store restock of PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles. According to the website, select Best Buy locations will have limited quantities of Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition consoles. Best Buy employees will begin handing out tickets at 7:30 am local time, asking buyers what console they are planning to purchase. The tickets “guarantee the opportunity” to purchase the console people desire, in a similar way that thePlayStation Direct queue invitesgave people a chance to buy a PS5 system.

There are some natural disclosures that Best Buy has regarding this event. Depending on local circumstances, Best Buy has the discretion of choosing when to hand out its tickets and for how long, based on line length, weather, and how many staff members there are. Furthermore, buyers may only receive one ticket, meaning multiple consoles cannot be purchased at once. If only there was a system like this to stop thePS5 and Xbox Series X botsand scalpers from hoarding the online restocks.

Notably excluded from the available console offerings is theXbox Series S, the digital sibling of the Xbox Series X. Comparatively, the PS5 Digital Edition and Xbox Series S have been even harder to come by than the traditionalPS5and Series X consoles, so seeing at least one of the digital consoles here is a good sign. Regardless, this appears to be a great opportunity for people who have not acquired any of these next-generation consoles yet. If trying to get a console though, it might be best to get there early, because everyone will be thinking the same thing.
