Summary
The flexible and varied class system inDragon’s Dogma 2gives players a lot of options for building their perfect Arisen and main Pawn, with a wide range of different weapons, weapon skills, and passive abilities to choose from across ten different Vocations.
One offour basic Vocations, the Mage Vocation features a range of different weapon skills that allow it to be a specialized support class, an offensive damage class, or a combination of both. With access to the best healing skills in the game, the Mage Vocation has a lot to offer. Here are the ten best Mage weapon skills.

10High Flagration
An Excellent Source Of Fire Damage
High Flagration is an easy Mage weapon skill to learn, being an upgrade to the basic Mage weapon skill, Flagration. As its name implies it’s a magical fire attack in which the Mage shoots a stream of magical fire from their hand at any enemies in range. This is a useful attack because it functions as an area attack and can go through multiple enemies.
It’s even more useful because it ignores the enemy’s Defense stat, and the caster can move while casting it. Very handy. A good source of fire damage is always useful since some enemy types are immune to some forms of damage.

9High Levin
Lightning Can Strike Twice
An upgrade to Levin, the basic lightning attack available to Magesand Sorcerers, High Levin proves the old adage wrong: lightning can, and does, strike twice when called by a skilled Mage. This is a powerful attack with a lot of utility in the game, allowing the Mage Arisen or their Pawns to call down the wrath of the skies onto unsuspecting enemies.
Additional lightning bolts can be summoned for additional stamina costs, making High Levin a fantastic skill to use in a range of different scenarios. Easily one of the most effective Mage skills.

8High Palladium
A Magical Shield That Blocks Attacks
High Palladium is a really useful skill for Mages, especially a dedicated support Mage Pawn. High Palladium grants a damage shield that can block up to three attacks, making it an easy choice of skill for many builds. This is a great support skill, but it can work for a Mage Arisen too, especially earlier in the game.
The upgrade to High Palladium allows the spell to target allies near the target, too, meaning this is a strong supportive skill that can buff the entire party’s ability to take hits and last longer in fights.

7High Frigor
A Decent Source Of Ice Damage
Frigor is an interesting Mage skill that allows the Mage to create a big block of ice. It can be used for traversal, allowing people to climb to taller ledges, but it also shatters in combat and creates smaller, throwable blocks of ice. This is useful for theMystic Spearhand, which gets a unique object levitation ability.
But High Frigor gains an additional damage effect, making it a decent source of ice damage for any Mage character. It’s a form of area damage, too, so it can target multiple enemies, making it a nice choice of spell even for a more supportive Mage build.

6High Halidom
No More Debilitations
Halidom is a great spell for a support-focused Mage build because it can remove a variety of frustrating debilitations from the Arisen and their Pawns. This is great on its own, but its upgrade to High Halidom removes even more annoying debilitations - including caught fire, silenced, frostbite, and blighted.
High Halidom is a must-have skill for a dedicated support Mage thanks to its flexible utility and amazing effects. It can also work well on a more offensive Mage.

5High Celerity
Faster Moving Equals Faster Killing
InDragon’s Dogma 2,being weighed down with a pack full of assorted nonsense can actively damage the player and their Pawns' ability to fight effectively. Players with a heavy pack will find themselves sluggish and unable to make fast attacks or move out of the way of things in time.
High Celerity can help mitigate the effects of many players' hoarding tendencies, allowing for faster, more responsive movement in battle at the cost of a weapon skill slot. And for players who don’t go around overburdened, it can be really helpful in making their characters swift killing machines.

4High Empyrean
Inflicts Holy Damage
Mage characters are one of the few sources of Holy damage inDragon’s Dogma 2outside of a few weapons that alsohave Holy damage, so it can pay to outfit a Mage Pawn - or the Arisen - with the High Empyrean skill. Empyrean is a useful skill - it casts a bubble of light that damages all enemies in its radius while the effect persists - which is great area damage and doesn’t need to actively be maintained.
High Empyrean makes it even better by increasing its effective range and duration, making it a very tempting option.

3Argent Succor
Fully Regenerative Medicine
Although Mages get access to the Anodyne basic weapon attack, Argent Succor is a much more effective form of healing available to Mages. The basic form, Argent Tonic, instantly recovers the target’s health (although not the loss bar). This is great since many curative items and the Anodyne ability don’t do that.
Argent Succor does that and provides a limited regen effect for a short duration after it’s cast, making it useful even after it’s restored the target to full health.

2High Solemnity
Effective Against Enemy Mages
The Solemnity weapon skill is a great way to inflict the Silence debilitation on enemy characters. Silence prevents spell casters from using incantations, so it can be a very effective way to even the odds in a tough fight against spell casters. Solemnity has a limited range and duration, but it’s still worth using.
High Solemnity increases both the range and the duration, making this ability very useful in some circumstances. It’s definitely worth using for some more supportive Mage builds.

1Celestial Paean
Three For One
Celestial Paean is the Mage Vocation’s Maister skill, a special skill taught by aMaister in the Vocation. The Maister for Mages is the character Eini, who can be found in the starting region of the map in the appropriately named Eini’s House location. And it’s a spell worth seeking out, easily one of the best tools in the support Mage’s toolkit.
Celestial Paean increases Stamina regeneration, reduces damage taken, and increases the speed of characters affected by it. It has a steep cost - all of the Mage’s stamina, and the Mage gets knocked down - but its utility is well worth it. It can be a fantastic choice for a dedicated support Pawn.
