Bloodborneis trending on Twitter, with over 20,000 tweets as of this writing, in response to the news thatHorizon Zero Dawnis receiving the remake/remaster treatment. Reports, corroborated by several sources, suggest Sony is working on improving visuals, character models, and animations to match those ofHorizon Forbidden West, while also introducing new accessibility features. All of this is in the works for PS5, though it should be noted thatHorizon Zero Dawndoes feature improvements on PS5 (60 FPS, 4K checkerboard resolution, etc.)
Of course, it should be noted that neither Sony nor Guerrilla Games have officially commented on theseHorizon Zero Dawnrumors and should therefore be taken for a grain of salt. Numerous sources corroborating the rumor, though, add some weight to it. And with this in mind, it’s pretty easy to see whyBloodbornefans are upset.

Fans Cry, “My Kingdom for a Bloodborne Remake, Remaster, PC Port, or 4K 60 FPS”
These rumors, in and of themselves, elicited a huge, mostly negative response online, with many joking about waiting for the remakes to playGod of War RagnarokorMarvel’s Spider-Man 2.Indeed, many seem worried that the PS5 generation is going to be largely defined by PS4 remakes. What should be noted is that no one is obviously obligated to play these remakes, yet with Sony focusing on improving accessibility options, more people will get to play these great games.Remakes with improved accessibility ought to be vital to Sony’s planmoving forward, but there’s what should be and the overall optics of the situation.
Many do not believeHorizon Zero Dawn, a 2017 game, should get the remake/remaster treatment. It already looks good on PS5, even if not to Horizon Forbidden West’s quality. The fact is, this also follows theSeptember 2022 release ofThe Last of Us Part 1. It made huge changes across the board, and yet, many did not and still do not think it was worth it. More folks got to play it though, and that’s what should matter. There’s always going to be a mixed response to these announcements, especially the more recent the game is, and some fans just want Sony to remake/remasterJak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, or other obviously dated games.
ButBloodbornefans perhaps get the worst of it. Longer than perhaps any other fandom, they’ve pleaded with Sony for a PC port, for a remake/remaster treatment, or even for a 60 FPS patch on PS5.Bloodbornehas received none of these, while newer games than it seemingly get this very treatment, which is odd given it is hailed as one of the best games of the PS4 generation. Doing forBloodbornewhat Sony is doing forThe Last of UsandHorizon Zero Dawnseems like a no-brainer, and as Sony holds the rights to the IP, it could have this done.
If not by FromSoftware (which is reportedly busy withElden RingDLC and support), then Sony has other studios which could do the improvements. Even just at a cursory glance, Sony has options likeGod of WarPC port developer Jetpack Interactiveor the consistent remake quality of Bluepoint Games.
However, according to industry insider Jeff Grubb, nothing is happening withBloodbornebecause FromSoftware is busy withElden Ring. Not an upgrade, not a remaster/remake, not a PC port, nada. Why not is perhaps only left to speculation, but as it stands, it seems fans could potentially see years ofHorizon Zero Dawn/Last of Us-like remasters beforeBloodborneeven gets touched again.
Bloodborneis available now on PS4.
