One of the earliest rare monsters thatBravely Default 2players may encounter is the Coral Emperor.
Players can find the Coral Emperor on the furthest point of the map Southeast of Halyconia next to atreasure chest. Despite the creature’s colorful and cute appearance, players should be prepared for a tough battle, as the Coral Emperor will likely prove to be one of the more challenging creatures they will face up to this point in the game.

Before rushing into battle with the Coral Emperor, there are severalimportant tipsfor players to consider that may prove useful in defeating the creature. One of the most important characteristics of the Coral Emperor is that magic has virtually no effect on the creature’s health bar.
Despite the fact that the Coral Emperor does appear to have a vulnerability to lightning, any magic spell that is cast by the party will be immediately absorbed by the creature. As a result, players with party members that are designed as mage builds should prioritize party support over damage dealing.
The Coral Emperor’s moveset consists of three moves that he will cast over the course of the battle. These include: 1) lethal poison - which deals heavy damage to a single target, 2) formless foam- which deals water damage to a single target, and 3) Blizzaga- which deals massive water damage to multiple targets.
Of the three moves, players will want to specifically watch out for Blizzaga as it can easily wipe out an entire party in a single turn. Compounding this difficulty is the fact that the Coral Emperor can use braves to cast multiple Blizzagas at the player’s party in a single turn. Due to the amount of magic damage that the Coral Emperor is able to deal in a single turn, players should prioritize boosting their magic defense over the course of the fight.
Despite the Coral Emperor’s invulnerability to magic, the creature has a weakness to daggers. As a result, theThief job providesan ideal setup for this fight with the God Speed Strike ability.
Alternatively,the Gambler job also provides a good additionto the party specifically for its Jackpot ability which restores all party members MP.
