Call of Dutyhas officially acknowledged the leaked logo and key art for the as-of-yet unconfirmedCall of Duty:Modern Warfare 3,and has let fans know when they’ll be able to learn more. 2023 was reportedly going to be the first gap year for the annualizedCall of Dutyfranchise since 2004, with a smaller expansion for last year’sModern Warfare 2set to bridge the gap untilTreyarch’s 2024 title. However, this alleged expansion grew in size and ambition, becoming a full-fledgedCall of Dutyrelease.

The follow up to 2022’sCall of Duty:Modern Warfare 2was already heavily speculated to beModern Warfare 3as the natural progression of thisModern Warfarereboot trilogy, which began in 2019. All but confirming the rumor was the recent leak ofModern Warfare 3’s logo and cover art on a Monster Energy drink package. Appearing on the cover of the new game is franchise icon Captain Price with an updatedModern Warfare 3logo over his chest. The “Modern Warfare"text harkens back to the font used in 2019’sModern Warfarelogo, and the Roman numeral “3” is in red, the color’s first use in the ever popularCall of Dutysubseries.

Now several days later,Call of Dutyhas officially acknowledged the leakedModern Warfare 3cover with a humorous image posted on Twitter. The post recreates the red Captain Price cover art with a shoddily drawn stick figure, complete withPrice’s iconic boonie hatand a small L-shaped pistol attached to one of his stick arms. The text at the top of the image, written in Comic Sans font, reads “Modern Warfare Redacted?”

Most importantly, in this tweetCall of Dutyadds that it’ll “share even more next week,” which likely means a full reveal ofModern Warfare 3is imminent.Call of Dutytitles have typically been revealed earlier in the year, around the late Spring or early Summer window. 2020’sBlack Ops Cold Warbroke that tradition, pushing its reveal almost to the beginning of the Fall.Vanguardfollowed suit a year later, but the reveal oflast year’sModern Warfare 2returned to the Spring window.Modern Warfare 3holding off on its reveal until August could be due to its nature of allegedly beginning as aModern Warfare 2expansion, but that’s just speculation at this time.

Call of Dutyhad previously confirmed that the reveal of 2023’s game would take place inWarzoneduring the current Season 5.
