Call of Duty: Modern Warfare(2019) has arguably been the best franchise game out of the past few years, and now it’s Infinity Ward’s turn again. It recently revealed thelogo and a short clip teasing the next game—Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, not to be confused with the 2009 game—and many fans are ecstatic.

Although short, there are some pretty major takeaways. Obviously, there’s the logo and a flash ofTask Force 141, which is no doubt exciting for fans. Many were also quick to notice a set of coordinates in the background, and internet sleuths wasted no time looking into them.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – Off to Singapore

It should be taken with a grain of salt, of course, as the coordinates in the video are hard to exactly see. With this in mind, various online fans have deduced thatCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2will spend some time in Singapore thanks to the coordinates. The big question, of course, is why.Modern Warfare’s ending sees Captain Priceforming Task Force 141 to prepare against Zakhaev, with files building hype for several characters like Soap and Ghost. None of them has a direct connection to Singapore.

Singapore HAS appeared in otherCall of Dutygames before, but primarily that’s appearances or references inBlack Ops 2 – 4.In other words, this appears to be something brand new for this part of the franchise, and that’s a good thing.Modern Warfareis a rebootafter all, and so its sequel will be as well. New faces are returning, including the aforementioned Zakhaev, but there will likely be new ones, new settings, and perhaps a plot that unfolds much differently than the original.

Luckily, fans probably won’t have to wait long to find out more. Recent entries in the franchise,Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarandVanguard, have been unveiled much later in the year compared to previous entries. This was probably due to a mixture ofCall of Duty: Warzone’s relevancy, as well as the previous year’s game, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Usually, games are revealed in April or May, and this teaser suggests more info will be out before May is done. It’s still possible the fullCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2reveal is still later than usual, but that would make this tease very unusual.

More reliably,Call of Dutygamesare typically released between the end of October and the middle of November. For those ready to suit up as Task Force 141 again, it’s worth keeping an eye on this period.
