With the modernCall of Dutyreleases, fans usually know exactly what to expect from each Battle Pass. There will be a handful of weapon blueprints and Operator skins alongside a few new guns that can be unlocked by leveling up, or later on through in-game challenges. Usually, the main draw is a new Operator that is either fully original or an established campaign character, withBattle Passowners unlocking them immediately before getting a special skin for them at tier 100. However,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2shakes things up in a major way.

Instead of just offering one Operator,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2Season 3’s Battle Pass will give gamers access to two characters from the campaign. This is a big deal, as outside ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare2019 Season 6, two Operators in one pass is unheard of. The two Operators in question do go together perfectly, though, as Alejandro and Valeria were at odds in the main campaign. With both characters being popular and splitting the community, too, Infinity Ward should turn the fan base’s loyalty to the characters into a proper event.

Turning Alejandro vs. Valeria Into a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Competition

Call of Dutyhas had its share of events in the modern era, ranging from voting on soccer matches to80s Action Heroesto the Hunt for Adler. Sometimes the events come with unique game modes andWarzoneobjectives, while other times they are simplified like what was done with the World Cup. An event based around Alejandro and Valeria could be a good mix of both, having some noteworthy social and in-game elements.

Infinity Ward has already done some of the groundwork for this hypothetical event with its reveal of the two Operators, as social media posts have seen the studio asking players whether they are on Team Valeria or TeamAlejandro. This is the perfect basis for the event, as theCall of Dutycommunity has been split on which character they prefer sinceModern Warfare 2’s campaign released. Playing into that with a proper event would be smart marketing and could provide entertaining gameplay on top of that.

The best way to make Alejandro vs.Valeriamore than just a social media campaign would be to have a stat tracker in-game and let players choose a side. Gamers could equip one of the two skins to score points for their team, with each match played providing one point and each match won leading to two points being earned. Players could constantly see the scoreboard at the main menu, knowing who is in the lead and by how much. Such an event would surely lead toCall of Dutymemes where players push others to choose a certain side, and the event could get a lot of players invested.

Perhaps a limited time mode could be added where a team of Alejandros faces a team of Valerias, with the maps in the rotation being limited to those set in Mexico. If this mode existed, players without the premium battle pass could still contribute, choosing their preferred team before they begin searching for a match. While it is hard to imagineCall of Duty: Warzone 2being able to do much with this concept, it would be nice to seeCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s paid multiplayerbeing the star of the show for a while.

Obviously, the competition could culminate with the winning team unlocking exclusive rewards. A specialCalling Card, emblem, Operator skin, and weapon blueprint for either Valeria or Alejandro could be released for free, with the loser’s bundle being put inside the in-game store and requiring COD Points to unlock. Really, though, quality rewards would just be the icing on the cake, as fans would be happy enough just to settle who is the more popular character.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
