Call of Duty: Modern Warfaremay be getting overshadowed by theCall of Duty: Warzonebattle royale mode right now, but that doesn’t mean Infinity Ward is ignoring the game entirely. In fact, fans ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfarecan still expect updates for the game on a regular basis, with the next update expected to drop at some point later today.

The nextCall of Duty: Modern Warfareupdate will likely include bug fixes and the like, but all that’s been confirmed so far is a new 24/7 playlist. Infinity Ward has confirmed that the Atlas Superstore map will be getting its own 24/7 playlist, allowing players to fight it out in the department store arena. This should giveAtlas Superstorea lot more attention than it had previously, as so far the onlyModern WarfareSeason 2 map that’s gotten a lot of attention is Rust.

Speaking of Rust, it seems like popular Season 2 map won’t be returning to the 24/7 playlists any time soon. Right now, the24/7 playlist inCall of Duty: Modern Warfareis Shoot the Ship, which is a combination of small maps Shoot House and Shipment. Atlas Superstore is fairly large by comparison, so it remains to be seen if fans will react positively to it being featured as a 24/7 playlist instead of Rust, Shoot House, or Shipment.

Previously, fans have not reacted well when larger maps have been included in 24/7 playlists instead of smaller ones. Some may recall when Shoot House 24/7 was replaced by Crash 24/7, which was met with widespread backlash online. Infinity Ward was quick toswitch the playlist back to Shoot House 24/7, as fans clearly were not happy with the newModern Warfare’s take on the once-popularCall of Duty 4Crash map.

It will be interesting to see if Infinity Ward adds any other small maps toCall of Duty: Modern Warfarein the future to help mix things up with the 24/7 playlists. Fans have theorized that theinevitableModern WarfareSeason 3 will be themed afterModern Warfare 3, so perhaps a smaller map from that game will make an appearance.

Modern WarfareSeason 2is still going strong, though, so it will be some time before fans see what Season 3 has in store.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
