Call of Duty: Warzoneis in the midst of its annual Halloween event, The Haunting. Like last year, the latestCall of Duty: WarzoneHalloween event adds new horror movie skins to the game, includingFrank the Rabbit fromDonnie Darkoand Ghostface fromScream. The latter is part of a marketing push for the upcomingScreammovie that’s set to premiere in theaters in January, with fans able to purchase a specialScreambundle from the in-game store.

DespiteScreambeing advertised heavily inCall of Duty: Warzonewith thespecialScreambundleand in other ways, it’s been discovered that the game doesn’t let players use the word “scream” when naming their loadouts. This is a rather bizarre restriction, as the word “Scream” is currently plastered everywhere inCall of Duty: Warzone, so it seems especially strange that the profanity filter would single it out.

If someone were to purchase theCall of Duty: WarzoneScreambundle and then decide to create a loadout based on the content in that bundle, they can’t name their custom loadout after the film franchise it’s based on. They can name the bundle “screa” or even “cream,” but the full word “scream” is not allowed byCall of Duty: Warzone’s profanity filter for unknown reasons.

This isn’t the first time that aCall of Dutyprofanity filterhad fans scratching their heads, but this instance stands out because of theScreamcontent that was just added to the game. Purchasers of theCall of Duty: WarzoneScreambundle get some custom weapon blueprints for their troubles as well as a special knife pulled straight from theScreammovies. It stands to reason that someone would want to name the loadout they make based on this content “Scream” so that they can easily identify it when sifting through their loadouts, but it’s currently not possible in the battle royale game.

It’s unclear if Activision will bother changing this or not. It likely has some bigger fish to fry when it comes toCall of Duty: Warzoneupdates, as some big changes are in store for the game in the very near future. While a specific date hasn’t been announced yet,Call of Duty: Warzoneis integrating withCall of Duty: Vanguardsoon, and that will include the debut of a brand new map based on the Pacific theater of World War 2.
