Recently, Capcom fueled rumors about where the series' future lies thanks to a survey that asked players about their interests surrounding theResident Evilseries. Some questions asked players about the Ambassador Program, RENet, and other miscellaneous parts of the franchise such as novels, stage performances, amusement rides, and movies. However, one of the final questions is about whichgame in theResident Evilseriesfans want to see remade. Perhaps one of the most popular answers isResident Evil: Code Veronica, the spin-off of sorts that connects to Resident Evil 2 and its events.

Many fans have been clamoring for aCode Veronicaremake for a long time, even back before Capcom decided to remakeResident Evil 3.Code Veronica’s popularity speaks for itself, but of course, it’s hard to say what Capcom could do. Code Veronicais certainly an option, but there’s reason to believe Capcom could just move on toRE5. Some people think the most likely isResident Evil 5, thanks to a teaser during thepost-credits scene of theResident Evil 4 Remake. But, It could also go back toResident Evil Zero, move on with the next mainline entry in the franchise, or any other number of things.

At the same time, surveys are nothing new in the industry and don’t guarantee anything. It does reassert what many already believe, that Capcom will continue working its way throughtheREfranchise with remakes, but what comes of that remains to be seen.

Resident Evil 4 Remakeis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
