Biotics Lab
Biotics Lab is one of the few maps that’s been available in boththe originalKilling FloorandKilling Floor 2, so it’s a no-brainer for it to appear in the third entry as well. The map that appears in the brief gameplay shown in theKF3announcement trailer bears a lot of resemblances with Biotics Lab, so it seems like it may be returning as a launch map at this point. It makes sense, considering the map has lore implications on top of consistently being a fan favorite with its claustrophobic hallways and grim, medical scenery.
Prison
Something about horror and prisons just works. Prison debuted inKilling Floor 2and is very likely a map new players picking up the game will see fairly often, as it’s a fan favorite and is regularly in rotation. It has a great contrast between its tight hallways full of cell blocks and other passageways to discover, along with its open recreational area that’s a great place to run when the creatures start to pile up too high and a little open space becomes necessary. It would be great to see whatKilling Floor 3could do with a map like this, especially considering some of the new mechanics shown in the announcement trailer.
Farm
BothKilling Floorgames have had some kind of farm-related map, whether it’s Farm inKF1or Farmhouse inKF2, they’re very similar locales that appeal to fans for similar reasons. There’s just a layer of tension and fear that’s added when running away from Slashers and Fleshpounds in the darkness of an abandoned field or dimly lit barn. Both versions of the Farm/Farmhouse map have various advantages, whether it’s the various multi-level buildings allowing for strategicexperimentation with different classes inKilling Floor 2orKilling Floor 1’s more sprawling map design really giving the feeling of being lost in a massive farm. Regardless of what iteration of this map makes a comeback, some kind of farm should definitely make its way toKilling Floor 3.
ZED Landing
ZED Landing hitKilling Floor 2in the game’s first major free update and quickly became a fan favorite. It’s essentially fighting off zombies in a setting akinto the TV showLostor the filmCastaway, something that is actually referenced through one of the map’s achievements. Fending off zombies on sprawling beaches, treacherous jungles, and next to the dangerous lava flow is just a vibe that’s unmatched by many other maps the franchise has ever seen.Killing Floor 3would certainly be better off if it saw ZED Landing make a return.
Burning Paris
Of all thezombie gamesout there,Killing Floor 2appears to be one of the few that puts players on the streets of a wrecked Paris, France, to fend off waves of its horrifying monsters. It’s definitely one of the most unique maps the game has to offer and has a lot of space for players to explore and find new areas to fight in.Killing Floor3could take the idea and move it forward in time, showcasing the aftermath ofKF2’s Burning Paris. Or the game could just bring the original Burning Paris back. Either way, fans will likely be happy.
Killing Floor 3is in development for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
