In addition to the difference in ratings, your choice will also impact how many Mental Abilities you have from the start, and how many Skill Points you can spend on improving your character. The amounts vary, with Elite and Blue Chip being the only ones with Mental Abilities, with one each, and the skill points increase by one for each journey type. This meansUnderdog starts you off with two Skill Points, whereasElite grants you five to spend before your first game.
Which College Football Journey Should I Pick?
The choice of which journey option to select is, of course,dependent on what kind of experience you’d liketo get out ofCollege Football 25’s career mode, as well as your expertise ingames likeMadden. If you’re relatively new to football games or are looking at diving into a starting role in a big-name college as soon as possible, then naturally you’ll want to opt for the Elite player option. However, if you want to mold a superstar from the ground up, and have no problem playing the long game, then Underdog is a great starting point. It is worth noting, however, that Underdogs are highly unlikely to find a secure spot in any top-tier teams, but it is a far more satisfying experience to bring success to a lower-ranked college and work your way up to the big leagues.
As someone with a moderate amount ofexperience in NFL games, I wouldrecommend either Blue Chip or Contributor, as both options offer a more balanced experience. Blue Chip will give you enough tools to get into a mid-to-high-ranking team and work your way into the starting lineup after a few weeks. Contributor, on the other hand, will be better for those who want to work a little more for their opportunities but don’t want the significant disadvantage that comes with choosing Underdog.
