Perhaps, in the long run, CD Projekt Red can pull off this redemption story. Many fans certainly hope so, and it’s good that there are long-term plans forCyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red thinks it’ll be considered “a very good game” eventually, but the short term isn’t being ignored either.

In a recent interview with Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita, founded and translated by VGC, CD Projekt Red President Adam Kicinski discussedCyberpunk 2077plans for early 2022. Specifically, there will be two big updates available for the game in this time period. The first update is for the fully-realized PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game, which should be free upgrades for those on last-gen consoles. This was mentioned when these versions were delayed, but one new detail stands out.
As Kicinski put it, “the decision to postpone the next-gen version of Cyberpunk was difficult, but we are convinced that it was right, more so because it clearly resulted from the recommendation of our development team.” Given reports indicated thatCyberpunk 2077devs were caught off-guard by its release dateand knew the game wouldn’t be ready by the time leadership publicly announced it would release, this shows some important growth.
The second major update will be Patch 1.5, which has yet to be detailed. Hopefully, it’ll be as big asCyberpunkpatch 1.3—while it wasn’t perfect, it did bring a lot of fans back to the game. It was still bug-ridden, and the truth is,Cyberpunk 2077may always have its fair share of bugs. Fixing the big game-breaking ones and adjusting the overall experience, however, goes a long way though.
It should be noted that fans should still take this with some skepticism until it gets close and a specific release date is announced.Cyberpunk 2077’s roadmap has been updated constantly, with major promises likeCyberpunk 2077’s first free DLCcoming in later than detailed, but the fact this delay came from the dev team and that patch 1.5 should be a big one are both promising ways forCyberpunk 2077to kick-off 2022.
