AlthoughCyberpunk 2077Update 2.0 has removed many of the pesky bugs that plagued the game’s initial launch, it’s inevitable that more content could mean more problems. Whilst most players have seen little to no bugs or glitches withCyberpunk 2077:Phantom Liberty, there is one common thread among players, that being the bugged quest step inThe Killing Moon mission, where players must wait for news from Songbird.
This guide will aim to help players who are stuck waiting for news from Songbird, as there are a few ways to get past this pesky error that is preventing players from progressing inCyberpunk 2077:Phantom Libertyaftercompleting the Firestarter missionon the side of Songbird. Here’s how to fix the wait for news from Songbird:

How Long Should You Wait For News From Songbird?
Players should wait no more than 6 to 8 in-game days for this quest objective. The way this quest step works is that Solomon Reed will call the player, and as V, they will have to respond to Reed however they so choose. This conversation is brief, and deciding on different dialogue options does not change anything outside the conversation. After this, a few more in-game hours or days, Songbird should call V using the Relic to discussa meet-up point.
Players should not be waiting more than 7 in-game days for news from Songbird, including the phone call from Solomon Reed, and they should not be looking to do every mission, side job, NCPD Scanner, and Gig in order to get it to work. For players asking when they get a call from Songbird, the answer is relatively quick, but if they still have not had a phone call, then they might need to look to these four fixes sinceconsole commandscannot help.

Fix One: Wait Seven In-Game Days Or More
After completing Firestarter and receiving The Killing Moon quest, players willbe in the Badlands, with Songbird driving off to somewhere safe. Either from this point or later on in the adventure, players can skip time. To skip time inCyberpunk 2077, players can wait or sleep. Simply open up the player menu and head over to the bottom left of the screen where they will have the option to Skip Time. From here, they are going to want to wait 24 hours around 6–8 times, and then wait until daytime. Players should receive a call from Solomon Reed.
After the call from Reed, players can repeat the step and should only have to wait 3 in-game days for Songbird to call. If this has not worked, then try the steps in a different area, or look to Fix Two, as they might have more success going forward with that.

Fix Two: Complete Run This Town
After Firestarter and the death of Kurt Hansen, Mr. Hands will soon call V about a business opportunity to decide the fate of the next head of Dogtown between Jago and Bennett. This mission won’t take too long, and it’s a pretty fun one that players should try. Some players have reported that by playing the Run This Town mission for Mr. Hands, they received what they were waiting for from Songbird.
The mission should take no longer than 40 minutes if that, and it will go even faster if players skip dialogue options. However, Run This Town is one of the best missions inCyberpunk 2077:Phantom Libertythanks to its impersonation of a famed assassin. Players have reported that after Run This Town has completed, they will receive a call from Solomon Reed, which is the first step in getting news from Songbird. If this has not worked, then try Fix Three.

Fix Three: The Fast Travel and Sleep Method
If players have completed Run This Town and they are still unsuccessful in finishing the wait for news from Songbird quest step, then they should try this order of steps:
This is the method that has reportedly had the most success for players, and the fix that worked for this specific guide. Players should fast-travel to Golden Pacific and walk around for a bit, with Solomon Reed calling a few real-world minutes later. After Solomon Reed calls, it’s a good idea to get back to V’s Dogtown Apartment through fast traveling to Kress Street and going up the elevator, to then sleep a few in-game hours to progress time. Players can then either wait by standing around or leave their game on whilst they do something else. When Songbird does call the player, there’s a dialogue prompt, so they won’t be missing the conversation until they manually respond to her.
Fix Four: Complete Firestarter Again
Fix Three should only be essential if the other two simply do not work. As reported, running around and completing every gig and side quest inPhantom Libertydoes not solve the issue, and some players have even reported that the recently released Patch 2.1 has not yet fixed the wait for news from Songbird bug. However, if players are still struggling, then they might just need to head into the Firestarter mission and complete it again,no matter the difficulty.
Players should have a Quicksave for the Firestarter mission since The Killing Moon is the mission directly after it, and it would be wise to have a save file before players make an irreversible decision on whether to help Songbird escape or help Reed capture Songbird. In completing this mission again, and then following through with Fix One or Fix Two without reloading a save file or turning the game off, players will have a better chance of everything working in the place that it is supposed to. The wait for news from Songbird glitch might not be common, but it can be one that prevents players from progressing deeper into the riveting spy thriller narrative ofPhantom Liberty.
