In the remake ofDead Space, EA Motive added several brand new side quests. These side quests help tell parts of the story that were missing in the original 2008 version of the game. One of those stories that had many details missing is how Dr. Mercer created the regenerating Necromorph that relentlessly chased Isaac through several chapters.
Aside from a brief audio log, there wasn’t much information on where this Necromorph came from or how it was created. The side quest ‘Premeditated Malpractice’ goes into the origin of this dangerous monster, and here is howDead Spaceplayers can complete this side quest.

How to Start Premeditated Malpractice
This side quest can bestarted between the fifthand sixth chapter. After freezing the Hunter and sealing it away, go into the middle of the room where the nitrogen was. There will be an item that players can pick up called Tissue Sample.
Analyze the Sample
Before leaving Medical, set the objective for this side quest as the tracked objective. Follow the locator to another part of medical to use a device that can analyze the sample from the Hunter. With the sample analyzed, follow the locator to reach a bed in ICU. There will be an option to interact with the bed to play a message that is stored there.
Go to the Mining Deck
After watching the recording, the objective will update andDead Spaceplayers will need to waituntil the seventh chapterto reach Ore Storage where the next step of this side quest is. In the area with the traps, there is a small room that is labeled Ore Storage. Go into this room and move some boxes to find a security terminal with a recorded message on it.
Go to the Bridge
When the audio message is done, the objective will update and players will need to go to the Bridge to finda report made by Nicole. The tricky part about this report, however, is that the locator doesn’t specify where the report is. Approach one of the screens near the stairs that lead to the elevator to Captain’s Nest and there will be an option to interact with it. A hologram will start playing featuring Captain Mathius and Nicole. This hologram will give players the next lead for this quest, and theywill need to go to Hydroponics.
Go to Hydroponics
With the objective for ‘Premeditated Malpractice’ tracked, follow the locator to reach a room that is filled with poison gas. While keep an eye on the oxygen meter, keep moving forward to find an audio log and a Prototype Stasis Module. Upon picking up the audio log and listening to it, the side quest will complete and players will unlock an achievement/trophy.
