Bungie is already making changes to the Guardian Rank system inDestiny 2, which was recently introduced in the Lightfall expansion.Destiny 2players can expect a brand-new update soon as Bungie adjusts the Guardian Rank system to benefit those who go above and beyond in high-level content such as raids and Trials of Osiris.The Lightfall expansion brought a whole host of new features intoDestiny 2such as the Guardian Rank system and Commendations. The Guardian Rank system allows players to demonstrate their skill and experience inDestiny 2by completing objectives. These objectives include increasing Vanguard reputation, completingthe Lightfall Legendary campaign, earning certain Exotics, and awarding Commendations to other players. Specifically, Bungie reduced the required Commendations score to complete objectives across all Guardian Ranks, streamlining the process of completing Commendation requirements and ascending from one Guardian Rank to another inDestiny 2. According to Bungie, an update on March 16 will introduce new objective descriptions for the Commendation requirements found in the Guardian Rank menu, which may be visited by pausing the game and entering the Journey tab.

Bungie states the change to the Guardian Rank system was made to closely match its goals regardingCommendations inDestiny 2. The studio did not elaborate further about the impending Guardian Rank change, but player feedback appears to be a vital factor for Bungie revising the objective requirements in the Commendations category. Currently, Commendations are tied toward Guardian Rank progression and a weekly Pinnacle reward from Hawthorne in the Tower.

Players and content creators have already found ways tofarm and exploit Commendations inDestiny 2since it is tied to progression of the Guardian Rank system. These farming methods usually involve parties heading into an activity, blowing themselves up, and awarding each other Commendations as the activity ends. As a result, some players have opted to farm Commendations and rewards without striving to earn them as originally intended by Bungie.

The introduction of the Guardian Rank system sparked heated debates amongDestiny 2players ever since the launch of Lightfall. Fortunately, Bungie appears to be quickly addressing some of the concerns regarding Commendations with this Guardian Rank change. More changes may be needed before the system is highly favored by a majority of the active player community, however.
