Destiny 2is still going strong, with a new season, Season of the Seraph, just starting up earlier this week, though thanks to investigation work done by fans, some new, unannounced exotic gear will be arriving in the coming weeks. TheDestiny 2API led to the information leaking out, adding validity to the simmering rumors of additional content. So far, every season has added more exotics, the top-tier of gear, to the title.
In addition to new exotics arriving this season,Destiny 2players can earn newSpire of the Watcher armorfrom the latest dungeon, as the current story arc wraps up before the next big expansion arrives in February. The “More Than A Weapon” questline ties into the start of upcomingLightfallexpansion, with players tasked to help Rasputin, one of the Golden Age A.I.’s, to assist Osiris' research efforts. While the story keeps moving forward with each season and every major expansion, it’s the constant acquiring of new and more powerful gear that really excites long-time players, making the news of three additional exotics particularly enticing for returning to the battlefield.

Coming from journalist Paul Tassi’s Twitter account, is a screenshot straight from theDestiny 2API providing proof that the unnamed exotics are in the game’s files. Paul’s theory is that the new exotics are time-gated, giving each piece of gear additional testing time sot hat they don’t break the game upon release. While this is not definitive proof that the exotics will be arriving during the season itself, it is a strong piece of evidence that they will soon be available in game prior to theLightfallexpansion.
Fan speculation as to just what the new exotics will be ranges wildly from Titan and Hunter arms, to somehow related to the already revealed Pulse rifle exotic. Currently, only an exotic Manticore SMG has been confirmed for Season of the Seraph, leaving the door wide open for anything else to be added in. How to earn the additional exotics is currently unknown, though fans have lately been complaining aboutDestiny 2’sseasonalgrind to earn unlocks, which means Season of the Seraph may have additional options.
For now, players can only theorize, speculate, and hope that the additional exotics will be available soon and through a reasonable method of acquisition. Currently,Destiny 2players can unlock the cross-overAssassin’s Creed armorwith additional ornaments now available. Even if the new exotics don’t get released before theLightfallexpansion, the future looks bright for the venerable looter-shooter heading into 2023.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
