If you manage to master the mechanics ofthe first encounterof Salvation’s Edge, then you will have an easier time understanding the second encounter in thisDestiny 2raid. While the mechanics of Dissipation are similar to Substratum, there are a few additional elements thrown into the mix. Not only that, but this is also the first boss fight in Salvation’s Edge.
During Dissipation, you will fight against a Taken Captain that looks a lot like the infamous Taniks. In addition to having a close range weapon that is good for DPS, you will also want something for survivability and for dealing with a constant flow of adds.

Dissipation Guide
Before discussing mechanics, it is important to note how dangerous the adds in this encounter are. You will constantly be attackedby both Dreadand Taken. Cover is very limited, and if you are not careful it is very easy to die.Conditional Finalityis a great weapon for this encounter, so make sure to bring it if you have it. Fortunately, there are no Champions to deal with. To start this encounter, shoot the Taken blight. The wipe timer from the first encounter is used in the second encounter as well. Throughout this encounter, another one of the Witness’s hands will be shooting projectile attacks down toward circles on the ground. This attack can easily be avoided as long as you are paying attention.
Before the encounter begins, make sure to have the entire raid group break up into three teams of two. Two players will go to the left tower, two will go to the middle tower, and the last two will go to the right tower. There are two plates at each tower. The plate at the bottom of the tower is the receiving plate and the plate at the top of the tower is the sending plate. There is also a conduit next to the receiving plate just like in the first encounter, and they are an important part of this encounter.

At the start of the encounter, your main focus will be clearing out all the adds, including the two Taken mini-bosses that show up. Also keep an eye out for medium-sized Taken blights that will appear around the arena. Destroy these quickly and move on with killing any adds that are still alive.
There are a couple of new mechanics that you will need to be ready for. Periodically, three players will get a buff called Call to Reckoning. If you get this buff, go down to the boss arena. Shootany Taken blightsthat appear and then hit the boss’s crit spot (his head). Make sure to keep moving as the boss will be aggressively moving toward you and unleashing a barrage of attacks. After enough damage to the boss’s crit spot has been done, the buff will change to a new one called Stolen Favor.

At this point, you and your teammate will need to do the back and forth mechanic on the plates to generate Resonance that will be deposited later. Timing is key here, as the line that connects the plates is significantly longer than it was during the first encounter. While generating Resonance, you will notice that it now has one of three different shapes. Resonance can now appear as either a triangle or a circle. The player who has the Stolen Favor buff will see one of these two symbols on the totems that close the circuit.
Once enough Resonance has been generated, you will then need to close the circuit like in the first encounter. The symbol that appears on the conduit indicates whether you need Pyramid Resonance or Spherical Resonance to close the circuit. After closing all three conduits, the glowing chest will appear in the boss arena. Everyone should go down and deposit their Resonance stacks into the chest. Not only does this extend the wipe timer, but it also triggers the damage phase.

Damage Phase
Despite the nerfs, usingWell of Radiancewhile everyone is wielding Lamentor Falling Guillotineis an effective strategy for doing damage. After the damage phase is over, go back up to your designated spot and repeat mechanics to trigger another damage phase. As is common for raid bosses, Herald of Finality has a Final Stand phase. At this point, progressively more adds will begin to spawn in an attempt to defend the boss. Once the shield drops, damage the boss as much as possible before you get overwhelmed. If you are successful, the boss will die and a chest will spawn.Grab your lootand head to the next encounter.
