Destiny 2’s 30th Anniversary Pack kicked in just about a week ago, and the DLC was very well received by the community due to its great replayability and loot. Today, however, is also the date for the official launch ofDestiny 2’s The Dawning event for 2021, which is often a perfect time to log into the game for extra gifts and cool items. The Dawning is going live shortly, and it will be available for all platforms at the same time.
Destiny 2: The Dawning 2021 Event Start Time
Bungie announced with an in-game message this past week that The Dawning event for 2021’s holiday season would launch today afterDestiny 2’s weekly reset. This is a list of different times for multiple time zones, so as to allow everyone to jump on board at the right time:

There should be no maintenance involved prior to launch, considering that the officialDestiny 2’s Bungie Help page doesn’t report any activity prior to the weekly reset, which means that The Dawning could simply be activated once the reset is live. However, there is also the chance that a 1-hour or 2-hour maintenance period will be issued prior to 10 AM PT, meaning that players might be automatically kicked out of the game by then.
There should also be no update to download for The Dawning to go live, but in case one is required, it’s recommended that players reboot their platforms after the patch is rolled out and reconnect to find the update available for download.
The Dawning event will entail giving gifts, probably cookies, to notable NPCs in the Tower, and possibly outside of it for characters like Crow, Mara Sov, and Savathun. There will also be snow involved, as customary, and it’s likely players will have “Stasis snowballs” to look forward to this year. Whether these will also be available in all activities, such as Strikes or the newly releasedDares of Eternity, is yet to be confirmed.
It’s worth noting thatDestiny 2datamine suggests The Dawning’s Glacioclasm fusion rifle will be OPthis year, thanks to the addition of two new perks to its pool.
As a reminder,Destiny 2’s Grasp of Avarice Dungeon will not be fixed today, after players discovered that it’s not endlessly farmable as intended, and the patch for that might be released this Thursday. More details will come soon either on Bungie Help or through Bungie’s community managers.
Destiny 2’s The Dawning is available today on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
