The latest season of Blizzard’s action RPG, dubbed the Season of the Construct, launched on January 23, bringing plenty of new content to fans.Diablo 4has seen lots of patches and updates since releasing last year, and this new season was anticipated to shake up the title in significant ways.
Thepatch notes forDiablo 4’sseason 3 updaterevealed loads of exciting additions to the game as well as various tweaks and improvements to existing characters, powers, and items that are sure to impact the meta in the coming year. One of the biggest additions this season, however, is the introduction of Vaults as a new challenge for veteran players to overcome. Unfortunately, however, these dungeons don’t appear to be getting the kind of reception Blizzard likely hoped for.

Currently, lots ofDiablo 4fans are venting their frustration online about Season 3’s Vaults, particularly citing the traps that guard these locations. It seems that many players are finding these traps deadly and difficult to avoid, making these challenge unfair and frustrating. On Reddit, for example, user Anatole-Othala has argued that Vaults are so bad that they must not have been play tested before release.
Issues with difficulty have already arisen this season withDiablo 4nerfing a Season 3 bossafter complaints about its difficulty. Of course, Vaults are not just a boss but a new game mechanic that is a core part of the season, meaning problems with them could be a bigger problem for Blizzard. With this season kicking off the new year, a negative reception of Vaults could spell concern forDiablo 4going forward.
Indeed, observers have argued that Season 3 is a big part ofwhat to expect fromDiablo 4this year, noting that moving into January on a positive note could help Blizzard continue to bounce back from a rocky launch in 2023. While it’s still very early in the season and Blizzard has plenty of time to roll out more fixes, at least some gamers are pessimistic about what’s to come based on the current state of Vaults.
Of course, not everyone in the community is angry about Vaults. While not thrilled with the season as it is, some have argued that Vaults are not necessarily bad, just underwhelming. Others seem open to giving Blizzard a chance to figure things out. With a whole year, more seasons, and a fullDiablo 4expansion bringing a new setting and class, there’s still hope for the game, even if the current season and its Vaults haven’t been well received.
