LEGO Star Warsis one of the most popular game collaborations that LEGO has ever produced, even though it has been a while since a new entry. However, a new announcement from Disney looks likeLEGO Star Warsfans will have more to look forward to beforeThe Skywalker Sagalaunches next year.
It is hard to think thatLEGO Star Wars, the game series, is over 15 years old, going back to the days of the original Xbox, PS2, and GameCube. In that time, the Original Trilogy and Clone Wars eras have been covered, as well asThe Force Awakens, with each game becoming more expansive and ambitious with its adaptations of the familiarStar Warsstories. For a couple of years now, fans have been anxiously awaitingLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which as the name implies, will adaptThe Last JediandThe Rise of Skywalker, while also remaking the stories that were covered in previous games.

Disney has officially unveiledLEGO Star Wars: Castaways, a new entry in the ever-popular spin-off series.LEGO Star Wars: Castawaysis the series' first social action-adventure game, where “players build and customize their own in-game LEGO minifigure character,” and join up with other “Castaways” to complete missions on a new planet. Players can look forward to racing signatureLEGO Star WarsMicrofighters as well engage in classicStar Warsmoments with their friends. The game is coming exclusively toApple Arcadeon November 19, being playable on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.
A major focus ofCastawaysis player customization.LEGO Star Warshas featured custom charactersfor many years, but the mode can often be overlooked by the game’s glowing roster of characters. According to StarWars.com, players will “unlock hundreds of collectible pieces to customize their minifigure,” as well as interact with other players in the Social Hub through LEGO emotes. It sounds like then, players will partake in memorableStar Warsmoments as their own character and not as one ofStar Wars’familiar ones.
This may not be a title that many were expecting, especially if they were hoping for something larger. From whatCastawayssounds like, this will likely be a fun experience that younger audiences will get more out of than older ones. Interestingly, another mobile game titledLEGO Star Wars Battleswas cancelled earlier this year, so one has to wonder if anything from that project was salvaged intoCastaways. BetweenCastawaysandThe Skywalker Sagathough,LEGO Star Warshas a bright future ahead.
LEGO Star Wars: Castawayswill be released on November 19 for Apple Arcade.
