The same day thatDisney Dreamlight Valleyleft Early Access was also the same day that its first expansion,A Rift in Time, was launched. The expansion added an impressive amount of content into the game as players explore the mysterious Eternity Island. Along the way, players will meet familiarcharacters like EVE, Rapunzel, and Gaston.

It should come as no surprise that, in addition to new areas to explore, there is also a plethora of new materials for players to gather. One such material is known as Quartz, and here is how players can get it along with what it is used for.

How to Get Quartz

Quartz is a new material that can be acquired by mining. Just like with materials in the base game, Quartz can only be acquired in certain biomes. The biomes that Quartz can be found in are the Docks, the Courtyard, the Overlook, and the Ruins. It is important to know that Quartz can only be obtained by breaking the black rocks along walls. Players can also get various other materials like Copper, gems like Topaz, and Coal Ore. Keep in mind that Quartz is a material that can only be found inA Rift in Timecontent. So don’t expect to find any Quartz while mining in Dreamlight Valley.

While exploring Eternity Island, players will come across orange rocks. These contain Copper and will not drop any Quartz.

What is Quartz Used For?

While playing the expansion, players will encounter a quest where they need to help Scrooge rebuild his store on Eternity Island. This requires players to gather a variety of materials, and Quartz is one of those. This quest requires 15 Quartz, so players may want to bring along acompanion with the Mining roleto speed the process up.

Of course, Quartz is used for more than just helping Scrooge rebuild his store. Like with Iron Ore, Quartz can be used for crafting and decoration purposes. While looking at the crafting table menu, players will notice some new recipes that use Quartz. These recipes are Short Ancient Pillar, Tall Ancient Pillar, Crumbling Landing Wall, andAncient’s LandingWall. This may not seem like many recipes or uses, but it is important to remember that there is still plenty of content coming out inDisney Dreamlight Valleyover the next year. If players want to be ready for the next quest that inevitably requires a hefty amount of Quartz, it doesn’t hurt to stock up.
