The popular smartphone gameDisney Twisted-Wonderlandis getting another manga series calledDisney Twisted-Wonderland The Comic: Episode of Savanaclaw. The new manga series will be published starting December 18th, in the January 2023 issue ofSquare Enix’s magazineMonthly G Fantasy. The announcement was made in the November issue of the same magazine.
Twisted-Wonderlandfirst became popular in Japan when it launched in 2020. The original designer of the characters and main scriptwriter is Yana Toboso, the mind behindBlack Butler. The game garnered immediate popularity in Japan, especially among its target demographic of young women.An English version of the gamelaunched in January 2022, bringing the game to even more people around the world.

Twisted-Wonderlandis a game that re-imaginesDisneyvillains from several franchises as bishounen anime boys. You play as Yu, a character who is summoned to a new world by a magic mirror and finds themselves at Night Ravens College. Taken in by the headmaster, you can play through the school meeting the various characters and earning new ones through agacha game style.
The manga adaptation forTwisted-Wonderlandgives these popular anime boys more of a story. Of course, players interact with them in the game and learn more about them the more they level them up and talk to them. But the manga lets the story go evendeeper than the mobile gameallows, which is why it has gained popularity.
From March 2021 to October 2022, the first manga seriesDisney Twisted-Wonderland The Comic: Episode of Heartslabyulwas also published inMonthly G Fantasy. It followed the Heartslabyul house, based onAlice in Wonderland, from the mobile game story. This new series,Disney Twisted-Wonderland The Comic: Episode of Savanaclaw, will presumably follow the Savanaclaw house, based onThe Lion King.
This new chapter of theTwisted-Wonderlandmanga will be drawn by Suzuka Oda, an artist behind a few other bishounen-style manga. While the publication inMonthly G Fantasywill be in Japanese, Kodansha USA Publishing has already announced they will also publish an English localization.
If the manga continues to be successful, it is likely that other five houses will get their own stories as well. The other five houses are based onThe Little Mermaid,Snow White,Hercules,Aladdin, andSleeping Beauty.
In addition to the manga, an anime was also announced forDisney+in 2021, andall the rights have been purchasedto make and stream it. There is no more current news in regard to that, soTwisted-Wonderlandfans will have to make due with playing the game and reading the manga in the meantime.
Disney Twisted-Wonderland The Comic: Episode of Savanaclawwill release on December 18th, 2022.
