Just like the pastBudokai Tenkaichigames,Dragon Ball: Sparking Zerowill allow players to recreate their favorite battles from theDragon Ballfranchise or even create some of their own pulse-pounding dream matches using a massive roster of heroes and villains from both the classicDragon Ball Zanime and the more recentDragon Ball Superseries. Over the past few months, fans have gotten to see some ofSparking Zero’s playable characters, along with a few nods to otherDragon Ballmedia like the old theatrical films.
Bandai Namco Entertainment America recently posted aDragon Ball: Sparking Zeroshowcase presentation on its official YouTube channel, hosted by producer Jun Furutani. After thanking the fans for theirpositive response toDragon Ball: Sparking Zeroso far, Furutani shows off some gameplay footage of Goku and Vegeta battling it out at the site of their very first confrontation on Earth in theDragon Ball Zanime. The resulting fight contains all of the high-flying and hard-hitting action fans expect from aBudokai Tenkaichigame, with the two Saiyan heroes unleashing almost all of their trademark attacks before transforming into their powerful Super Saiyan Blue forms.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Mixes Classic Budokai Gameplay With New Tricks
Furutani then goes over some ofDragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s new gameplay elements. The standard movement speed is now as fast as the dash from the last game, with a short dash move to allow the player to travel at lightning speed for a brief moment. There is also a new “Skill Count” that builds throughout the match and grants the player access to a range of new actions like “Revenge Counter” and “Super Perception.” Finally,Sparking Zeroadds a “Vanishing Assaults” action that lets players instantly swoop in on opponents for close-range fisticuffs.
Finally,Dragon Ball: Sparking Zeroconfirmed several new characters, including Trunks in his Super form and Super Saiyan Broly at full power. Fans who havemissed theBudokai Tenkaichigameswill have much to look forward to inDragon Ball: Sparking Zero, though an official release date hasn’t been confirmed as of this writing.
