Summary
A classicKonamigame could be coming to modern platforms in the near future, as indicated by a recentFelix the Catrating given by the ESRB. When a rating is usually given out by this organization, it typically means that games will be released relatively soon. This also results in games being leaked, especially if no prior announcements have been made about them yet.Felix the Cat, alicensed game developed by Konami, is one of these cases.
Back in the 1990s, theclassic cartoon characterFelix the Catreceived a video game that was developed by the now-defunct Hudson Soft, a Konami subsidiary. This licensed game was released in North America and Europe for the NES and Game Boy systems. The NES version was released in 1992, while the Game Boy version was released in 1993. In it, players are tasked with defeating the Mad Professor, who has kidnapped Felix’s girlfriend, Kitty. The two versions are practically identical in terms of platforming and mechanics, with the Game Boy iteration featuring fewer levels. The game’s original developer, Hudson Soft, would later cease to exist as an individual company, merging with Konami Digital Entertainment in 2012. With Konami releasing a series of remasters and ports recently, Hudson Soft’sFelix the Catgame might be next.

Thisclassification was recently added to the ESRB’s databasefor aKonami-published game simply known asFelix the Cat. The rating outlines that it will be a multiplatform game re-release, launching on PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch, with no Xbox versions as of this writing. The rating also summarizes what to expect, as Felix is looking to save his girlfriend from the evil professor again, traversing through 2D environments. Felix will also use a variety of cartoony gadgets and vehicles to defeat his enemies, who are wielding pistols, cartoonish bombs, and more.
Based on this rating, this re-release could possibly be a port of the NES version ofFelix the Cat, as the Game Boy version cut some of the levels. It could also be a port collection that includes both the NES and Game Boy versions. This would be similar toKonami’sTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Cowabunga Collection, which contained the different versions of the same game that launched on different systems. This rating doesn’t outline if any additional content, like a concept art collection, in-game achievements, or other extras, will be included in this re-release.
