Ethan Hawke has received praise for his performance as Arthur Harrow inMarvel Studios’Moon Knight. Now, the acclaimed actor expressed his own admiration for a different MCU character: Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin.

InMarvel Studios’Moon Knight, Hawke’s Arthur Arrow is the leader of a cult dedicated to bringing the God Ammit back to life so she can pass judgement on the citizens of the world. While that judgement spells death for those Ammit deems wicked,Hawke’s performance as Harrowhas been applauded, along with the writing, for his ability to portray a compelling villain who is more than just a one-dimensional comic book antagonist.

Similar praise was given to D’Onofrio’s for his performance asKingpin in Netflix’sDaredevil, a role he recently reprised in the finale ofHawkeye. It appears Hawke is among the many who admire D’Onofrio’s take on the Kingpin, as theMoon Knightstar named the actor when asked who his favorite Marvel character was during a Q&A session on Instagram. “It would be very easy to say Robert Downey because that was a high watermark for me,” Hawke said. “But in truth, I do think I have to give a shoutout to Vincent D’Onofrio as Fisk. That is a great character portrait. That’s a great performance, and when I took this job, I was aiming at him.”

Beware ofMoon KnightandHawkeyespoilers ahead: fans hoping to see Hawke and D’Onofrio share the screen together as Arthur Harrow and Kingpin may be out of luck.TheMoon Knightfinaleended with Harrow being shot and presumably killed by the third personality of Marc Spector, Jake Lockley. Similarly, theHawkeyefinale concluded with Kingpin being shot by Alaqua Cox’s Echo, the crime lord’s underling and adoptive daughter.

Of course, as with the comics, death isn’t always permanant in the MCU. After all,Marc Spector and Steven Grantwere both killed inMoon Knight, but a series of events in the afterlife eventually allowed them to come back to life, so perhaps it may be premature to count Arthur Harrow and Kingpin out.

There are also rumors that D’Onofrio’s Kingpin will appear alongside Cox andDevery Jacbos in theEchoseriesfrom Marvel Studios, which is currently in production and aiming for a 2023 release. Of course, these rumors have yet to be confirmed, but Kingpin surviving a gunshot wound from Echo would line up with with a similar event from the comics.
