In true Halloween spirit, Warner Bros. Pictures has released a first-look image of the new installment in theEvil Deadfranchise,Evil Dead Rise.The film is written and directed by Lee Cronin while franchise originators Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell serve as executive producers and Rob Tapert serves as producer.
Evil Dead Risehas been causing a buzz for quite a while now with plenty of teases from those involved, but today marks the first image released for the upcoming movie. While details on the film are lean, there have been some revelations regarding the plot and setting of the project.

The fifthEvil Deadfilm has been in various stages of production for quite some time after the 2013 remake directed by Fede Alvarez proved incredibly popular and also showed that the franchise could survive withoutEvil Deadprotagonist Ash Williams(Bruce Campbell). Alvarez was originally attached to create a sequel to his reboot, but after the success ofDon’t Breathe, Alvarez has put aside his plans for now. Raimi handpicked writer/director Lee Cronin forEvil Dead Rise, whose previous work includes the short filmGhost Trainand the 2019 horror filmThe Hole in the Ground. After wrapping production, Cronin announced that they had used 6500 litres of fake blood during the shoot, which suggests that horror fans can look forward to some pretty messy Deadite attacks.
TheEvil Dead Risecast includes Alyssa Sutherland as Ellie, Lily Sullivan as Beth, Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Nell Fisher, Mia Challis as Jessica, Tai Wano, Jayden Daniels, and Billy Reynolds-McCarthy. Campbell has stated that his time playing Ash is over and that he will not be reprising his role in the new film.
Evil Dead Risewas produced by both New Line Cinema and Ghost House Pictures and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.Evil Dead Riseis scheduled for a theatrical releasein April 2023 after originally being planned as an HBO Max exclusive.
Evil Dead Risewill now be heading to theaters on Jul 13, 2025.
