WhenFallout: New Vegascame out towards the latter part of 2010, it didn’t actually go down too well. While it’s acult classic in the open-world genretoday, it was rushed out the door soon afterFallout 3and was quite buggy. However, over time it became a celebrated entry in the post-apocalyptic franchise, with its overall writing being particularly noteworthy. After more than a decade, fans are still finding themselves coming back to the Mojave Wasteland, and the addition of mods helps keep the game in the limelight.

As seen by DSO Gaming, modder cgy95 has recently put out a custom add-on forFallout: New Vegascalled “Race to the Bottom,” and it sounds pretty aspirational. Described as a “medium-sized” mod, it’s estimated to be around two hours in length, about the same size asFallout 4’s “Automatron” DLC that came out in 2016. In cgy95’s project, players are tasked with tracking down robbers while exploring a new dungeon. The most impressive thing about this mod is the fact that it’s fully voice acted and features some new characters.

That’s impressive for a free add-on. There are manyfascinatingFallout: New Vegasmodsout there, such as one that finally allows fans to become an actual courier. However, not many have their own voice acting. On top of that, “Race to the Bottom” affords the player a number of ways to solve problems in order to complete the quest. It’s even possible to do a no-kill run, though with no NPCs being “essential,” it looks as though those who are a bit more bloodthirsty may even be able to do the opposite. All in all, it sounds like an ambitious mod.

Speaking of ambitious, theFallout 4mod “Fallout London” demo releasedrecently. This add-on is a really interesting addition to the 2015 entry and turns England’s capital city into a wasteland. This one also comes with new factions and weapons. To put it another way, theFalloutmodding community is very much alive and well and is putting out a litany of great content.

In terms of the 2010 release,New Vegasis consideredone of the bestFalloutgamesto see the light of day. The previously mentioned writing helps it to stick out, not to mention the decision to put more emphasis on role-playing when compared to its predecessor. There have been hopes for a follow-up or maybe even a remake, but at least for now, fans can get more out of the Mojave Wasteland with a treasure trove of custom mods.

Fallout: New Vegasis available now for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
