This was confirmed by thelatestFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthtrailer, specifically the one featured on the officialFinal FantasyYouTube channel. While the PlayStation version of the trailers made no mention of this,Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthis only obligated to stay PS5 exclusive until July 12, 2025, at which point it could theoretically release for any other platform. Since Square Enix broughtFinal Fantasy 7 Remaketo PC, one has to imagine that a PC version ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthis the most likely possibility, but fans shouldn’t rule out the game coming to Xbox or even Nintendo.
Is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PS5 Exclusive?
Xbox has been strengthening its relationship with Square Enix, as evidenced by the Xbox port ofFinal Fantasy 14that’s coming out next year. Considering this, one has to wonder if Square Enix will bringFinal Fantasy 7 RemakeandRebirthto Xbox platforms as well. Nothing to that effect has actually been announced, but it wouldn’t be surprising.
As far as Nintendo goes, reputable leakers have suggested that Square Enix has already portedFinal Fantasy 7 Remaketo the Nintendo Switch’s successor. If those leaks are to be believed, thenew Nintendo console is powerful enough to playFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeat a level similar to the PS5 version. This could mean that the next Nintendo console is powerful enough to runFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth, but that’s just speculation at this time.
It’s also worth pointing out that just becauseFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthcan be released on other platforms after August 05, 2025, it doesn’t mean that it actually will. The game could very well stay PS5 exclusive indefinitely. However, givenFinal Fantasy 16’s reported sales struggles, it seems like Square Enix may be motivated to releaseFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthon as many platforms as possible.
