Fire Emblem Engage, like other Japanese role-playing games, provides the player with a wide variety of classes for their characters to not only switch to but also master. Due to this long-lasting Nintendo franchise also being a tactical RPG, it is also important to pick the right classes for each character in the hope to survive each of the well-thought-out chapters.

Once reaching level ten of the nineteen base classes available to each unit, the player can then upgrade that character’s class to one of the advanced classes available to it as long as they have the proficiency to become it. With so many advanced classes available andfew Master Seals provided for free, these are by far the best advanced classes to unlock. It’s important to note that some of these classes are exclusive to late-game characters.

10Berserker

Masters of the Axe, the Berserker class is a brilliant-advanced class that focuses on having a lot of health and strength. This unit hopes to tank the hits of an enemy with little armor while also being able to pack a brutal hit when approaching.

Units that start off as the base class of Axe Warrior such as Boucheron are able to level up instantly to this advanced class as it doesn’t require them to have a proficiency in any other weapon. This then leads them to have an S proficiency in axes and therefore allows them to equip the strongest of that type.

9Griffin Knight

Flying units are a great way to have mobility while advancing across the map inFire Emblem Engage. The Griffin Knight is an old class that hasn’t been playable sinceFire Emblem Awakening. Now players are able to advance their flyer base class characters into this well-diverse unit for being great attackers as well as mobile healers.

Griffin Knights have well-rounded stats that caneither be helped or hindereddepending on the character attached to them. For example, Chloe has a great avoidance stat which means she’s more likely to dodge a hit but a poor defense.

8Mage Knight

Mage units are also another highly requested class to have on the field at all times, especially with such a wide variety of spells to be used as well as armored opposing units being highly vulnerable to them. Mage Knights are able to balance power behind spells as well as being proficient in a melee weapon.

This opens up the Mage Knight to take part in various combat situations due to behind strong against a wide variety of foes. Especially if taking on an opponent that uses magic the skill Chaos Style will increase the speed of the unit allowing them to possibly attack twice.

7Sleipnir Rider

As an advanced class that is exclusive to Hortensia, players will want to unlock thisone-of-a-kind classfor the second Princess of Elusia. Due to being highly skilled in both staffs and spells, Hortensia is a great unit to put on the map if the player is sure they will be avoiding archers.

Because of her Pegasus mount and magical past, Hortensia has a high avoidance stat that makes her great for defending against mages while also being able to get a clean hit off on opposing forces. Not to mention that her S-rank proficiency with staffs means she is able to use some of the most powerful abilities in the game that go well past just healing.

6Wyvern Knight

Another great flying unit that players should consider completing their roster with is the great and powerful Wyvern Knight class. While Wyvern Knights may not specialize highly in a weapon sharing a variant of two melee weapons at rank B, this doesn’t stop it from being an unrelenting unit to use.

Besides, hitting hard and easily avoiding attacks due to their swiftness, these Wyvern Knights can also be incredibly vulnerable to certain attacks. As flying units, they are subjected to great damage from bows, though riding on Wyverns also means they must avoid those wielding weapons that have an advantage over these units.

5Wolf Knight

Introduced inFire Emblem Engage, this new class has already made a name for itself with fans of the franchise due to the incredible power it has in battle. Those that reach level ten of a base class in the wide variety of cavalier unit classes can advance in level to a Wolf Knight as long as they are proficient in Knives.

Not only are Wolf Knightsincredibly fastallowing them to hit more than once on many occasions. They are also very lucky, which means the unit equipped has a higher chance of getting a crit on an enemy.

4General

Some battles that lack opponents that can use magic will require units that are able to tank hits from foes while taking little to no damage from them. That’s exactly what the General Advanced Class role is.

Slowly advancing on archers that can do damage as well as other melee weapons leads the enemy into taking a brutal hit. Generals are great for drawing the attention of a group of opponents so that other forces can attack as well as on some occasions soloing a whole area of units by themselves.

3Cupido

Another exclusive advanced class that can only be unlocked by Fogado, this class is essentially a Bow Knight with more style. Fogado is able to easily make his way around the map due toriding on horsebackwhile also being highly skilled with both a bow and a sword.

As the name Cupido may suggest, such as cupid, Fogado is masterfully dexterous which allows him to not only always hit his shots but also makes him highly likely to get critical hits on the enemies he faces. Therefore, equipping him with something like a Killer Bow will push this likelihood of hitting a crit even further.

2High Priest

High Priests also deserve a moment of appreciation inFire Emblem Engage, as these units are by far one of the most diverse when it comes to weaponry. These units not only can attack with combat arts but also spells, while still being able to use staffs in order to support their fellow allies.

While their defense may be quite poor, High Priests are more likely to dodge incoming attacks than survive them if they are hit by them. Players may still wish to use them from a distance as their spells are far more powerful than their punches.

1Divine Dragon

Unsurprisingly the most powerful advanced class available is the one the main character Alear can advance to once reaching level ten of Dragon Child. As Alear is the character that is required to survive the whole story it makes sense that many of their skills focus on keeping them alive.

However, the Divine Dragon also packs a mean hit, and once advancing to this class, they not only can tactfully wield swords but also have the option to use combat arts to take on archers, mages, and thieves.
