Summary
FormerRockstardeveloper Obbe Vermeiji has recently deleted all of his posts about the company’s projects, including classicGrand Theft Autotitles, and canceled games. Vermeiji worked on some ofthe bestGrand Theft Autogamesever made, includingGTA 3,Vice City,San Andreas, andGTA 4, as well as some unreleased projects, and Rockstar was not very happy about the information he was divulging.
Vermeiji started writing the blog posts around a week ago, telling several insider stories about the development of Rockstar games during his tenure at the company, which lasted from 1995 to 2009. In these posts, he detailed some interesting aspects ofcanceled Rockstar games, explaining whyAgentwas canceled, and talking about a Scottish zombie survival game Rockstar was once developing usingVice City’s source code, but ended up canceling to releaseGTA San Andreas. At the moment, however, all of these posts are unavailable.

Now,in a blog posttitled “Sorry you missed it,” Obbe Vermeiji explained why he deleted the articles. He stated “I got an email from R*North. Apparently some of the OG’s there are upset by my blog. I genuinely didn’t think anyone would mind me talking about 20 year old games but I was wrong. Something about ruining the Rockstar mystique or something.” Vermeiji revealed that he would like to be able to talk more about the trilogy ofGTAgames released in the 2000s, but that he also does not want to irritate his formerRockstarcolleagues, so he won’t be writing about this anymore.

Some of the most interesting information shared by Vermeiji was regardingcanceled Rockstar titles likeAgent. In one of his blog posts, the developer talked more about the long-lost spy thriller, which was supposed to be a PS3 exclusive. According to him, Rockstar worked on the game for over a year, but it was not progressing as well as the team hoped, and they decided to cancel the title and focus on DLC forGrand Theft Auto 4and the development ofGTA 5instead.
While Rockstar fans are often interested in secrets regarding old games, the obvious highlight of the moment is the eagerly awaitedGrand Theft Auto 6. A few weeks ago, Rockstar confirmed thattheGTA 6trailer would be out early in December. At the moment, there’s a lot of speculation about the upcoming game, such as that it will be set in Vice City and have two protagonists, but nothing has been confirmed so far.
