Epic Games has confirmed that it’s bringing backFortnite’s annual Halloween event Fortnitemares in October. The Halloween event has returned every year since in new, spooky ways andFortniteplayers have been anxious to hear more about what it’s store for 2022. They’ll have to wait a little longer to find out more about this year’s Fortnitemares, though.Fortnitemares 2021will be the most likely blueprint for what Epic Games has planned for this Halloween. In 2021, Epic Games released a wave of Halloween-themed maps, games, and experiences for Fortnitemares. For better or worse, the focus was on premium Halloween outfits released inFortnite’s shop. But there was also a special series of quests revolving around the Cube Queen, and the Dual Fiend Hunters weapon was available for battle royale players to enjoy.RELATED:Fortnite Announces Shortnitemares Horror Animated Shorts EventFor Fortnitemares 2022, all Epic has shared so far is a teaser that the event will officially begin on October 18. The only clue offered in Epic’s Fortnitemares teaser is what looks like a purple crystaline wolf with glowing red eyes. What awaitsFortniteplayerscome October 18 remains a mystery, but that’s part of what makes the annual Halloween event so much fun.

Theories regarding what could awaitFortniteplayers during Fortnitemares first point to the current season’s opening cinematic and theme.FortniteChapter 3 Season 4has seen the map plagued by a spreading chrome substance that sucks people into it. In the season’s cinematic trailer, several humanoids made of this chrome liquid grew out of the substance. Perhaps these monstrous chrome creatures will make another appearance for Halloween, at least in certain places acrossFortnite’s map.

The crystal wolf teaser could be related to some sort ofin-gameFortniteevent, with enemies made out of crystal, chrome, or a mix of the two. It’s more likely that the crystal wolf is a teaser for a newFortniteHalloween outfit, as Epic prefers to put upcoming skins in its advertising for future events.

WhatFortniteplayers can expect, at a minimum, is a variety of new skins available to purchase, some sort of in-game new content, andHalloween-themed game modesoutside the battle royale itself. Fortnitemares isn’t as big of an event as some live services do for Halloween, but it should still have plenty of spooky fun for players to enjoy through the holiday.

Fortniteis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
