Many players seem to be anticipating the next generation of consoles and gaming as a whole. The PS5 andXbox Series X both have proven to be incredibly popularwith gamers around the globe to the point of selling out within minutes of pre-orders opening. However, some gamers onTwitterhave now decided to take the time to reflect on current-gen games and talk about which ones they consider to be perfect.
It’s unclear who began this trend of “My 4 10/10s,” but it seems to have taken theTwittergaming community by storm. Participation in it the trend is fairly simple: players share the box art of the games from this generation (PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One) that they feel are masterpieces. They then will sometimes share a small blurb with how they felt about the games they chose.

The individual lists are incredibly varied, allowing players to get a glimpse into the preferences of the players sharing. However, with so many players participating in the trend, there are several games that seem to recur on individual lists. Some of these includeGod of War,Persona 5,Breath of the Wild,Red Dead Redemption 2, andBloodborne.
While most players have been enjoying the celebration of the gaming generation, others seem to not understand the trend and are sharing any of the games they consider to be perfect. Some players have included games likePokemon Platinumon the Nintendo DS orCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2which are from far previous generations. Others have elected to include the same game 4 times as if to say that there was only one perfect game to them the entire generation.
The current generation of consoles will likely be seen as an important one in the history of video games. This was the first time that a genuine mid-cycle refresh occurred when Sony and Microsoft released thePS4 Proand Xbox One X. This innovation allowed for console makers to improve upon their existing hardware without the need for a new system entirely. However, this also could be seen as a new way for manufacturers to make more money simply by selling “half-step” consoles.
Only time will tell if the upcoming generation of consoles will have the same type of reverence that this one did. However, withgames likeFinal Fantasy XVI,Halo Infinite, and a newGod of Warcurrently in development, it seems that gamers everywhere have a bright future ahead of them.
