Genshin Impacthas a very strict update schedule with each version of the game lasting for approximately six to seven weeks. Updates are usually divided into two parts that include two limited banner cycles. The ongoingGenshin ImpactVersion 2.6 has brought a brand-new character named Kamisato Ayato, as well as two banner re-runs for the Anemo Archon Venti and Ayato’s sister Ayaka.

The game’s official social media accounts have previously confirmed that the upcomingGenshin Impactupdate 2.7 will get delayed indefinitely. While HoYoverse is yet to confirm the reason behind the delay, the majority of the community believes that it’s due to the complicated COVID-19 situation in Shanghai.

A recent leak on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit reveals more information aboutGenshin ImpactVersion 2.7, which still has no official release date. The Reddit thread shows a conversation between a fan and a credible leaker who claims that Version 2.7 will be shorter compared to HoYoverse’s usual updates. The move makes sense considering that in order to go back to their usual release dates, the upcoming update will need to be shorter because 2.6 has been prolonged.

This is especially important if HoYoverse wants their summer events to arrive later than expected. Like any other developer, HoYoverse plans their events ahead of time considering that a lot of them are tied to various holidays. Players are hoping that those plans could include a big anniversary event at the end of September. With the whole Inazuma arc coming to an end, multiple leaks have confirmed that anew mainGenshin Impactregionis just around the corner.

The release of a new major update is one of the most important events onGenshin Impact’s calendar which means that shipping the new region in time is probably a top priority for the developer. While most players hope that this leak is true, a couple of replies in the comment section are not happy with 2.7 being shorter than usual. This is due to the fact that they will have less time to acquire the two new characters that have already been confirmed:Yelan and Kuki Shinobu.

They claim that the same scenario back inGenshin ImpactVersion 1.3which is the only update that had three banner cycles, each of which lasted for 14 days. A lot of players missed their opportunity to pull for the first banner characters, Xiao, who was probably the most popular addition to the playable roster at the time.

Genshin Impactis available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
