An update forGenshin Impacthas revealed that the game’s newest four-star character will be receiving an emergency hotfix, adjusting the cost of one of Mika’s abilities. The arrival of Version 3.5’s second half brought two highly-anticipated re-runs and a new four-star character to the HoYoverse RPG. The newest banners feature re-runs of a pair of popular Cryo characters withboth Shenhe and Ayakajoined by Mondstadt’s newest character in Mika. Now, the surveyor for the Knights of Favonius' Reconnaissance Company has a few surprise changes on the way.

Mika officially debuted inGenshin Impactearlier this week as a Cryo polearm user focused around supporting and buffing Physical damage teams. Anofficial update withinGenshin Impacthas revealed the upcoming change being made to Mika as a mid-patch hotfix. The notice refers to a bug withMika’s in-game valueswherein his Charged Attack’s Stamina Cost is currently set at 20, instead of its intended 25. The fix to Mika will be implemented next week on March 30th with HoYoverse reportedly planning to compensate players for the fix. It is unknown what the compensation will be, with some fans speculating it could take the form of free Primogems or other in-game resources.

Many fans have expressed their surprise at the suddenly announced changes to Mika due to his role withinGenshin Impact. Mika is generally viewed as a support character by most players, with the Stamina Cost for his Charged Attack being largely inconsequential to the rest of his gameplay. The change also comes as a relatively small fix, only adjusting the cost of his Charged Attack by 5 points. Some have even criticized HoYoverse for hitting Mika with a minor nerf, instead of addressing thesignificant volumes of complaints about Dehya’s gameplay.

Mika’s introduction toGenshin Impactcomes as the first new character from the game’s original region in nearly two years. Mondstadt has not received a new character since the introduction of Eula with Version 1.5 in May 2021, similarly a member of the Knights of Favonius' Reconnaissance Company.Mika also pairs well with Eulaas a character, buffing the Cryo Claymore user’s heavily Physical-oriented gameplay style. Thankfully, for Mika fans,Genshin Impact’s newest hotfix looks to be relatively minor and should not make a heavy impact on Mika’s viability.

Genshin Impactis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
