Genshin Impact’s official YouTube channel has revealed the final character demo, named “Secret Inside the Hat,” which features theupcoming Pyro bow user Lyney. Lyney will be the only new five-star character in the upcoming update. Even though most of the promotional videos released so far and Lyney’s official describe Lyney as a very cheerful, open, and talkative character, recent leaks have revealed that he has a much darker side. Apparently, behind that friendly persona lies a very cunning individual who constantly spins his web of lies.
This was also hinted at by one of HoYoverse’s recent promotional videos in which both he and his sister can be seen posing next to theinfamous Harbinger Arlecchino, who is expected to be the main villain in this region. When it comes to his play style, Lyney is expected to be a new DPS unit who uses a Charged Attack. Similar to Tighnari’s and Ganyu’s kit, Lyney’s Charged Attack will have two different levels, determined by charging time.
His empowered attack will apply an effect called Grin-Malkin Hat that taunts nearby enemies. This can allow players to reposition themselves if needed and make sure their strongest attacks land on the right targets. This attack will also grant Lyney a Prop Surplus stack, which can be cleared out byusing Lyney’s Elemental Skill, Bewildering Lights, that deals AoE Pyro damage to enemies in front of him.
Lyney has one of the most iconic Elemental Burst animations in the game, making him turn into a Grin-Malkin Cat which is basically a cat in a hat that bounces all over the field dealing massive amounts of Pyro damage. Players who want to get the character’s DPS potential to the next level should try to acquireLyney’s signature bow, The First Great Magic.
Genshin Impactis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
