The trailer ended with the promise that the game would be “coming soon” to the Switch, but it’s been over four years with no sign of the Switch version.
The latest official word on theGenshin ImpactSwitch version is that it’s still in development, with HoYoverse claiming as much back in 2022. It’s been another two years since then, andtheGenshin ImpactSwitch port is still nowhere in sight. While it’s always possible HoYoverse could surprise fans and still release the game for the Nintendo Switch, at this point, it seems like a broken promise. Switch owners shouldn’t hold their breath forGenshin Impactto drop on the Switch, but there’s still a chance the game could come to a Nintendo platform.
Genshin Impact Could Be Perfect for the Switch 2
It’s no secret that the Switch is near the end of its life cycle. Plans could change, but the current expectation is that Nintendo will reveal the Switch successor console at some point this year, and then release the device in 2025. Alternatively, some reports have indicated that the Switch 2 reveal and launch will both happen in 2025. Regardless, it’s clear thata Switch 2 console is on the way, and the unannounced console would presumably offer a power upgrade when compared to the original Switch. This could in turn make it easier for HoYoverse to bringGenshin Impactto a Nintendo console.
IfGenshin Impactreleases for the Switch 2, some Nintendo fans may still be disappointed. After all, the originalSwitch has a massive install baseof dedicated players who may have been looking forward to playing the open world game on their platform of choice. They may be upset aboutGenshin Impact’s broken promise to release on the Switch, though others will be happy to see the game come to a Nintendo platform at all, even if it means having to buy a Switch 2 console to play it.
