Goblin Cleanupis a dungeon-themed cleaning sim where players take on the role of a goblin cleaner working for the mysterious Dark Lord. However, players shouldn’t be fooled byGoblin Cleanup’s cozy, fantasy atmosphere. Cleaning and prepping its dungeons to be ready for the next band of adventurers is a deadly and dangerous business. WhileGoblin Cleanupis playable solo, it’s also about having fun with friends with the ever-present risk of silly or gruesome deaths, as players navigate their way past traps surrounding their everyday tasks.

While its demo displays some information aboutGoblin Cleanup’sroadmap, there’s much more to the developer’s plans, including early access. Game Rant recently spoke with Crisalu Games' senior gameplay programmer Santiago Arriazu about those plans and what the team is learning from its community followingGoblin Cleanup’s demo release.

Goblin Cleanup’s Demo Feedback

Speaking with Arriazu about what the team has learned so far fromGoblin Cleanup’s demo on Steam, it’s clear the team is watching and learning from this and its Discord community. As Arriazu explained,

Based on that feedback, we change or implement mechanics. Watching them play, we discover that our game has two audiences, one who seeks to have a chill moment playing alone, and another who is more casual and seeks to laugh at silly deaths and funny situations with friends. Everything we do is thinking about both ways of seeing the game.

While not primarily ahorror gameexperience, its gruesome deaths that see players burst into meat chunks may likely appeal to those fond of dark humor who don’t mind a bit of blood and guts. On the flip side, this contrasts with its cozy dungeon vibes, where besides traps, rearranging the dungeon could provide some relaxation. It’s about as much of a horror-comedy experience that a game can manifest. Arriazu also added there’s plenty in the works when it comes to making changes:

The game is constantly evolving and changing, and we plan to continue adding new mechanics, improvements, and changes to the current demo.

Indeed, a visit toGoblin Cleanup’s Twitter account shows some of the changes the team is making so far, including making the Slime Dispenser visually easier to interact with when players add slimes to their Slimop cleaning tool.

Goblin Cleanup’s Future Roadmap And Early Access Plans

Arriazu also revealed Cleanup’s roadmap and plans going forward, including when they hope to launchearly accessand what they would like to incorporate into the game thereafter. As Arriazu explained,

We are planning an early access at the end of the year, so we were thinking of having 13 levels. After that, we plan to keep updating the game with way more levels and thematic dungeons, like a desert pyramid dungeon, a giant ghost pirate ship, a medieval Chinese castle, and many more. Expanding that way, fans can see the lore of the world that we are making and the different cultures that coexist in it.

This could be promising news for fans eager to experience more ofGoblin Cleanup’s lore; of course, it could also add even more replayability to itssimulation gameexperience. That’s not all though, as Arriazu also revealed even more exciting gameplay features and mechanics the team hopes to add in the future:

We have talked a lot about our roadmap, and we have several things to add. Without going any further in the next update, we will have new traps such as a giant crossbow, fire slimes, a sanctuary where you can change the respawn, new restorable objects, a new tool, and even a new immersive tutorial, so new players feel less lost.
