Let it never be said that the video game fan base is not one to go over every minute detail with a fine tooth comb. There are some people out there who will scour every nook and cranny of a trailer or read between the lines of a developer’s statement in the hope of uncovering some hidden detail. Take theResident Evilfans who believeanRE4remake is in the works, as an example. And now, it looks as though some people in theGrand Theft Autocommunity are convinced that the trailer for the upcomingGTAtrilogy remaster is hinting at a possible announcement.
According to a report, and a number of tweets, when Rockstar released the trailer for theGrand Theft Auto: Trilogy - Definitive Edition, a remaster of the early 2000 classic games, they put in a small detail that may allude to some potential news about the long-awaited sixth installment in the series. The video went up on the developer’s official YouTube channel a few days ago, and some fans have been going over it frame by frame, looking for clues.

This hint, according to sources, lies at around the 40-second mark, in whichVice City’s protagonist Tommy Vercettiis seen riding a motorcycle through the streets. On the back of the bike, the license plat can be seen, which reads “Vice City” followed by letters “I C S L V.” While most would glance over this without a second thought, some have interpreted this as “Vice City Is Coming Soon” with the LV standing for the Roman number for 55. The theory goes that this means 55 days after the 22 October, which was when the trailer went live, there will be an announcement. Therefore, the supposed announcement is said to occur on December 16.
Now, this may just sound like an arbitrary date. However, according to Dexerto, December 16 has been alluded to in the past by supposed leakers. It sounds a little far-fetched, but this is not the first time the fan base has used a license plate to interpret hidden meaning. A few weeks ago, fans spotted anotherGrand Theft Auto 6hint in aGTA 5trailer, which allegedly hints at the next game’s setting.
It needs to be said at this point that these are all pure speculations. There has been no official word from Rockstar about what the license plates actually mean, if they mean anything. Having said that,it’s been ten years since the lastGrand Theft Autowas announced, so it does seem like some news about the next game is somewhat overdue.
Grand Theft Auto 6is rumored to be in development.
