Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxyis launching in just a few days and it marks the release of the next major title as a part of Square Enix’s partnership with Marvel Games. WhileMarvel’s Avengerslaunched to a mixed reception, thesingle-player nature ofGuardians of the Galaxyshould help in alleviating some of those fears.
Developer Eidos-Montreal has been regularly releasing new videos leading up to the release ofGuardians of the Galaxy, including TV spots, cinematics, gameplay trailers, and other features. The trailer includes several key members of the development team at Eidos-Montreal. The programming director ofGuardians of the Galaxystates that since the game takes place in a futuristic world, ray tracing will give more life to the environment. The video then shows a few scenes highlighting the difference between ray-traced reflections and screen space reflections (SSR). It features many different locations that evidently benefit greatly from RTX, including an area that’s mostly made of glass. This is followed by showcasing the effect RTX has on the visuals when players are inside the Milano.
The video later re-confirms thatGuardians of the Galaxywill support Nvidia DLSS for improving performance without any noticeable sacrifices in visual quality. The trailer ends with promising that the story will deliver an emotional experience. Parts of the footage do look stunning, and the jump in reflections indeed makes a significant impact on the overall look of the game.
PC players should note that thesystem requirements forGuardians of the Galaxywere revealed a while back, and they do not seem too steep. Even though the requirements show that 150GB of storage space will be required, it was later confirmed on Twitter that approximately 80GB will be needed. Console versions will reportedly take around 50GB of space.
Despite the hurdles faced byMarvel’s Avengerson launch, it looks like the player count has drastically increased due to itslaunch on Xbox Game Pass. However, the recently added XP boost microtransactions were understandably not well-received.Guardians of the Galaxywill probably avoid this issue as it was earlier confirmed that it will not have any microtransactions or DLC.
Guardians of the Galaxylaunches October 26 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
