Silent Hillfans have been champing at the bit for a new game ever since thePTdemo released back in 2014. Fans have been speculating about the series ever since the PT project was canceled only a year after the demoarrived. Guillermo Del Toro, who was originally involved with the project, recently made a joke aboutSilent Hillat The Game Awards and once again started a wave of hype among the fanbase.

PThad a massive effect on the gaming industry as it inspired many gamesdespite never even fully releasing. This is why a simple joke made by Guillermo Del Toro basically stating that he wishes that anotherSilent Hillwould release caused such a stir. Unfortunately, for fans of the series, it turns out that the joke was exactly that, a joke. Del Toro explained that he made the comment to poke fun at Konami for canceling theSilent Hillgame that Hideo Kojima and him were working on.

Del Toro then went on to state that he does not see himself working in video games again, although, he did say that the way stories are told in games fascinates him. Fans are still discussingPTeven 7 years after its release owing to how haunting the experience was. This was in part the result of how horrifyingPT’s antagonist, Lisa was.

Some fans have even gone as far as to recreatePTthemselves.OnePTfan even recreated the game in VRfor the Occulus Quest to make the game just that little bit more terrifying. The recreation was made by Redditor ROBYER1 who recreatedPT’s hallway in Blender, which is a free 3D modeling and animation program. While ROBYER1’s recreation ofPTis not the full game, the Redditor did hide some secrets in order to scare curious players.

Hideo Kojima has done little to quellSilent Hill’s fans hype as he made sure to includePTeaster eggs inMetal Gear Solid 5and more recentlyDeath Stranding: Director’s Cut. Unfortunately, Konami has not released any information to the public about a new possibleSilent Hillgame. Some speculate that it may be because any newSilent Hillgame would most likely pale in comparison to the game that players were expecting to come out of Del Toro and Kojima’sPT. It is unlikely that Konami would once again partner with Kojima to make a newSilent Hillgame, so for now, fans will just have to wait for Kojima to announce a spiritual successor toPTor perhaps Konami to announce a newSilent Hill.
