Summary
There are currently five weapons available to play with in theHades 2Early Access, but only one of them is unlocked at the beginning of the game. The rest have to be unlockedwhile clearing waves of enemiesas Melinoë presses further into the depths of the Underworld to save her family.
That being said, some weapons are far easier for players to get their hands on than others, and it can be confusing to know what exactly is required to unlock every weapon, or where to get the materials needed. In this article, we’ll discuss whichHades 2weapons are the hardest to unlock, as well as how to eventually unlock each weapon.
This article contains spoilers for Hades 2, including discussions of boss fights and regions found later in Hades 2 Early Access.
5Witch’s Staff
Melinoë’s Starting Weapon
The Witch’s Staff- also known as ‘Descura’ - isthe first weapon availableto Melinoë inHades 2. It’s also, thankfully, automatically unlocked at the beginning of the game, making it Melinoë’s starting weapon.
It allows the user to switch between faster close-range attacks or slower long-range AOE attacks, making it a solid starting weapon for players to use while they get used toHades 2’snew playstyle options.
4The Sister Blades
All You Need Is A Piece of Silver
The Sister Blades, Lim and Oros, are the first weapons able to be unlocked inHades 2. These blades can be unlocked with1x Piece of Silver. Silver can be gathered in Erebus after unlocking the Crescent Pick in the Silver Poolat the Training Grounds.
Equipping the Crescent Pick will make more nodes appear in turn, which should make it easier to farm Silver. Since there’s such a low amount of Silver needed, the Sister Blades are the easiest weapon to unlock inHades 2.
3Moonstone Axe
Start Saving Up Silver
Technically, theMoonstone Axe, Zorephet, is the fourthunlockable weaponin terms of the order in which the game lists them. However, Zorephet is noticeably easier to unlock than the Umbral Flames, placing it the third-easiest weapon to unlock.
To unlock the Moonstone Axe, all players need is15x Pieces of Silver. The amount of Silver needed means it will take a few runs to farm the pieces needed, and players might be wise to get started farming a bit early, since they know they’ll want to unlock the Moonstone Axe eventually.
Silver can also be gained by completing the Prophecy ‘Family in Need’, which will reward x10 Silver. Narcissus can also occasionally offer Silver as a gift when speaking to him.
2Umbral Flames
Get Ready To Fight Hecate
Though Ygnium,the Umbral Flames, are one of the earlier weapons players can unlock inHades 2, it doesn’t mean they’re one of the easiest to unlock as well.
The Umbral Flames require3x Pieces of Silver, which isn’t so hard, and3x Cinders, which will be quite a bit harder until players manage to get over the difficulty curve of their first few runs. Cinders can be obtainedby fighting and defeating Hecate, the Guardian of Erebus, the game’s first progression wall, and the boss that blocks the way out of Erebus.
1Argent Skull
The Hardest Weapon To Unlock
TheArgent Skull,Revaal, is by far the most difficult weapon to unlock inHades 2. It requires twobrand-new items: Bronze and Glassrock. Thankfully, it needs only low amounts of these, but they’re notably harder for players to get their hands on than any of the previous items needed to craft weapons. Going further, this weapon can only be crafted after all the other weapons mentioned above have also been crafted, making it quite a challenge to unlock.
Bronze is found in much the same way as Silver, with only the Crescent Pick needed to mine it. However, it can only be found in and around the City of Ephyra, which is the first Surface biome Melinoë will reach on her travels. Only1x Piece of Bronzeis needed, so thankfully it should only take a trip or two to the City of Ephyra to earn the amount needed.Glassrock is another reagentthat also needs the Crescent Pick to mine, though this material can only be found in the Mourning Fields, the third region of the Underworld. Players will also first need to fight and defeat Scylla and the Sirens in order to make their way to the Mourning Fields.
Overall, the amount of fighting necessary, and how deep Melinoë needs to go into the labyrinthine biomes ofHades 2,makes the Argent Skull the most difficult weapon to unlock in the game as of right now. The fact that players must also craft the rest of the weapons in the game first is the cherry on top of an already pretty big challenge.
