Summary

AnOverwatch 2clip shows Sigma flinging a rock upwards before it shoots down on an opponent like a meteor. Sigma was introduced toOverwatchin 2019 and since then his abilities have been used in unique ways, including this hilariousOverwatch 2rock throw.

Due to his utility, Sigma has become a popularhero with OverwatchLeague players like Indy Halpern and Gi-Cheol Nam. While Sigma was part of the originalOverwatchlineup, the hero saw some changes with the release ofOverwatch 2. Unlike Doomfist whobecame a tank inOverwatch 2, Sigma was a bullet sponge that simply improved in the sequel. Sigma saw significant buffs to his base shield and abilities like Accretion and Experimental Barrier whenOverwatch 2was released. While his rock ability normally does damage and knocks opponents back slightly, this player may not have expected to be hit by a meteor.

Reddit user Harvest3r recently shared a clip of anOverwatch 2multiplayer match. The team pushing the payload through Havana comprises Ana, Illari, Junkrat, Sigma, and Widowmaker, with the opposing team having Illari, Mercy, Sigma, Soldier 76, and Widowmaker. With the team sharing multipleOverwatch 2heroes, the Sigma playing offensively thinks outside the box and uses their barrier to block an Accretion from the enemy Sigma. The tank hero then flings their Accretion boulder upward from behind the barrier. The stone nearly reaches theOverwatch 2skybox before falling back to the ground and hitting the defending Sigma.

Because the rock was airborne for most of its duration, the enemy team seemingly disregarded it, causing some potentially unexpected damage. Although the defendingOverwatch 2Sigmadidn’t get killed by the Accretion, they were seemingly stunned just as they tried to use their ultimate ability. Unable to use Gravitic Flux on the attackers leaves the defending team vulnerable as it normally pauses the action while players are flung up and down. This reset the defending Sigma’s ultimate ability back down to zero, while the attacking one had a 90% charge. The Sigma that was hit by the meteor was quickly healed by the nearby Mercy and Illari.

Given that the Sigma ability was used on the first corner for theOverwatch 2Havanapayload, it may have enabled the team to push further. Because Harvest3r’s clip concludes before the attacking team is able to move the payload, it’s unclear if the incredible Sigma play made a difference. As Harvest3r apparently played for the defending side, it’s likely that players from both sides noticed the uniqueOverwatch 2strategy.

Overwatch 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
