The Merlin Trials are puzzles that can be found all over the map ofHogwarts Legacy. The puzzles vary and differ in each Trial, as they offer players a challenging experience during the game. Furthermore, they require the use of Spells to move, flip, or levitate certain objects inHogwarts Legacy.
The South Hogwarts Region is where players are first introduced to the Merlin Trials during the Trials of Merlin main quest. The quest is triggered after players hear Nora Treadwell fight with a couple of Ashwinders.

All Merlin South Hogwarts Region Trials In Hogwarts Legacy
There are a total of 15 Merlin Trials in the South Hogwarts Region inHogwarts Legacy. Given the large size of the area, 15 trials is a reasonable amount to have.
The 15 Merlin Trials are:
Merlin Trial #1 - Brazier Puzzle
The first Merlin Trial in this region is located east of Lower Hogsfield. To solve it, players need to cast Confringo to light up the three Brazier above the pillars. The pillars are easy to spot as they’re right next to the Trial. Additionally,starting from the tallest pillar is important because it will begin descendingas soon as players light it up, and time is limited.
Merlin Trial #2 - Orbs Platforms Puzzle
To reach the second Merlin Trial, teleport to the Lower Hogsfield Floo Flame and head southwest. Once there, follow these steps to solve the puzzle:
Merlin Trial #3 - Stone Sphere Puzzle
The third Merlin Trial can be found north of Lower Hogsfield, but as there is no fast travel waypoint, players can use a Broom or aFlying Mount inHogwarts Legacyto reach it.
Start by using Mallowsweet to activate the Merlin Trial then head southwest to locate the stone sphere and its pit by casting Revelio. Once found,use either Depulso or Wingardium Leviosa to either push or levitate the sphere into its pit.
Merlin Trial #4 - Stone Pillar Puzzle
To reach the fourth Merlin Trial in the South Hogwarts Region, travel west from the third trial location. This task requires players to destroy five stone pillars located at various points around the Trial:
Merlin Trial #5 - Firefly Puzzle
The fifth Trial is south of the Mooncalf Den Floo Flame in the South Hogwarts Regions. This puzzle requires players to locate three swarms of fireflies to light up three Moonstone pillars. To solve it:

Merlin Trial #6 - Stone Sphere Puzzle
Similar to the previous Trial, teleport to Mooncalf Den Floo Flame and head south to arrive at the sixth Merlin Trial. On top of a hill north of the Trial location, players can find the sphere. Cast Wingardium Leviosa on the stone sphere to levitate it, or use Depulso to push it into the pit.
Merlin Trial #7 - Stone Sphere Puzzle
Teleport to Aranshire Floo Flame and head southwest to the seventh Merlin Trial in the South Hogwarts Region. To solve the puzzle, cast Wingardium Leviosa on the sphere behind the Trial and guide it to its pit.
Merlin Trial #8 - Firefly Puzzle
The eighth Merlin Trial is south of the Aranshire Floo Flame, so there’s no need touse the Broom inHogwarts Legacy. Upon offering some Mallowsweet, a bunch of fireflies will spawn. To solve it:
