Space exploration has become one of the hottest topics among gamers in the past week, especially after Bethesda had finallyrevealed the gameplay for its upcoming sci-fi RPGStarfield. At the 2022 Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, the Xbox team also showed a new trailer forLightyear Frontier, an upcoming open world farming exploration game that brings a relatively peculiar twist of being set in space.
Developed by Swedish indie studio Frame Break,Lightyear Frontieris described as a game that blends mechanics from open-world exploration games with farming simulation games. However, one interesting bit fromLightyear Frontieris the fact that it features an alien planet as its setting, not to mention that players will do most of their in-game activities while piloting a customizable mech.Lightyear Frontierwas first announced almost a year ago, but it has finally received an official release window.

The new trailer also depicts some of the interesting mechanics inLightyear Frontier, from shooting plant seeds to harvesting crops and drilling various resources, all using the seemingly very versatile robot arms that the mech is equipped with. As in most farming simulation games,base buildingis also an essential part ofLightyear Frontier. In this game, proper facilities are necessary not only to process and manufacture crops and other resources, but also to research mech upgrades and more advanced structures.
As for the exploration part,Lightyear Frontieris promising an enticing worldfilled with mysteries to discover. One thing that won’t be inLightyear Frontieris combating hostile aliens, as the game is intended to provide a peaceful experience to players. Instead, the game will see players domesticate wildlife and face challenges such as adverse weather conditions.
All in all,Lightyear Frontieris slated to offer a fresh take on theever-popular farming simulation genre. When the game comes, players are free to choose to enjoy the game either solo or in a four-player co-op session.
