Lokiseason 2producer Kevin Wright revealed that one highly-sought Marvel Cinematic Universe moment that fans are invested in is in the works at the studio.

Lokidetails the adventures of a variant of the trickster god following his theft of the Tesseract inAvengers: Endgame. The series sees him apprehended by the Time Variance Authority, an agency dedicated to monitoring and policing the timeline. The show’s first season was a massive success, highlighting how Tom Hiddleston’sLoki is one of the MCU’s most changed characters, having evolved into a more endearing figure throughout his MCU stay.

Lokiseason two was quickly renewedfor Disney Plus, which series executive producer Wright discussed withVariety. During the interview, Wright was questioned about Loki joining the wider MCU at some point in the future, and he touched on a popular fan request in his response. “I don’t want to — yeah. I think the sun shining on Loki and Thor once again has always been the priority of the story we’re telling,” Wright explained, referencing the popular viewer longing for the two brothers to reunite on the big screen. “But for that meeting to really be fulfilling, we have to get Loki to a certain place emotionally. I think that’s been the goal of these two seasons.”

While a deleted scene has showna Thor cameo intended forLokiseason 1, the two have had little to do with one another since they last met on the big screen, with Loki’s multiversal adventures not coinciding with his brother’s battle against Gorr the God Butcher. The reunion of the two will be an instant fan-favorite moment, and it would inject some much-needed emotional weight into the post-Infinity saga MCU, a fact that doesn’t seem lost on the showrunners backstage. The show also seemingly has more mileage on it, with Wright also noting, “I also think that where this show goes, there certainly can be many, many, many more stories told with Loki in the ‘Loki’ world, and in other worlds connected to Loki, the character.”

While this is good news, the scope of Loki’s eventual reunion might be held back byMarvel’s TV characters potentially struggling to move to films. While the showrunners behind the show have expressed an interest in the TVA and other characters introduced inLokiplaying a bigger part in the MCU, that integration might be easier said than done.
