The latest tour inMario Kart Tourhas been announced, and it’s bringing back a revitalized GBAMario Karttrack with it. Fans don’t have long to wait for the Sunshine Tour and the chance to revisit the classic track.
While the latest entry to the series on Switch has been receiving fresh content through its Booster Course Pass, including the surprising addition of new racers added toMario Kart 8 Deluxe, the mobile game has also been going strong.Mario Kart Tourhas received some backlash for its microtransactions, but the title regularly receives new content in the form of brand new or remastered tracks, racers with alternate costumes, and plenty of vehicles to choose from.

Now,Mario Kart Touris getting ready for its Sunshine Tour, and it’s hyping up the occasion by showing off gameplay footage from its incoming track, Lakeside Park. Lakeside Park was originally introduced to the series back on the GBA inMario Kart: Super Circuitand has received a 3D overhaul forMario Kart Tour. Nintendo has shared a brief trailer giving players an idea of what to expect, while simultaneously showcasing a variety of available vehicles and character skins. The Sunshine Tour is set to arrive on July 26 at 11pm PT.
As with other tours, this one will also feature a newMario KartMii racing suit. This time the suit is based off of Toadette. The update will also see the return of the Daisy Cruiser track, sailor-themed outfits for racers, and submarine-themed go karts.
While the new Sunshine Tour is currently putting the mobile game in focus, there’s a chance that fans of the franchise could see some of these additions eventually come to the home console version as well.Mario Kart 8 Deluxehas been gradually releasing waves of classic tracksfor players to enjoy, with some of them coming from the mobile game. However, there’s only one wave remaining in theMario Kart 8 DeluxeBooster Course Pass, so there’s no guarantee that Lakeside Park will make the cut.
AlthoughMario Kart 8got its start on the troubled Wii U, theDeluxerelease has been a massive success for Nintendo, becoming one of its best performing titles on the Switch. It seems there’s more than enough room among series fans for both the console and mobile releases to co-exist, though it will be interesting to see how much ofMario Kart Tour’s content eventually migrates toMario Kart 9. In the meantime, players of both games should have plenty to keep them occupied this year.
